Julianna Moore was SOOOOOO good

This board is fairly depressing...I'm too afraid to go to page 2 cuz all the threads here are so negative.

Anyway, I thought her accent was excellent for an Englishwoman who's spent so much time in America, and I just loved everything about her performance. The movie shows up all the time on Showtime and I literally just rewatch it just to see her again (and of course that amazing reaction Colin Firth does to hearing Jim died in the beginning). AHhh she's just so electric and charismatic! I can't believe some people think she was miscast. Was she too real? I love when she screams "Oh this was such fun!" and oh everything. I loved everything about it!

Anyone agree?

I agree, she totally nailed it and she was even nominated for a Golden Globe. Her accent was exactly what it should sound like for a British woman who had been living in America for many years should. Even Colin Firth was impressed with it. I think the people who have been naysaying Moore's performance have seriously been talking out of their asses.

I completely agree. I just caught it last night on TV after seeing it two times in the theater when it came out. I loved the two scenes when she is on the phone to George.

That is so true! I totally rewatched the film just for that scene where they dance and laugh. She was so fresh and beautiful in this film! The accent was an issue... i don't know much about aceents, guess that's why it didn't bother me. Her chemistry with Colin was amazing, her make up, her hair, the way she walked, talked... i loved it. People just like to point out what they don't like all the time without real arguments

She was absolutely fantastic in this movie...one of her best roles. I thought she was perfectly suited for "Charley". Can't believe people didn't love her--plus she looked so fantastic. I can't think of another actress who would have been better in the role.

Remember us, for we too have lived, loved and laughed

Just watched it on tv for the first time. Really enjoyed the film and Julianne was great. As an English person I have to say that she sounded like an English woman that had been in the states a while, so no problem there for me :)

As someone who is definitely not a fan- I have to say its the most I've ever liked her.

She was great in this role, but then I think she is an excellent actress.
