Narration

Well, I just watched part one and over-all I'm very impressed. I think it's been put together skillfully and the acting is at a high standard (Ruth and Naomie were brilliant!) However, I find the recurring narration irritating and a little patronising. Talk about drumming it in. I think it's completely unnecessary and takes away from what is otherwise a top-knotch drama. Anyone agree?

reply

I agree there wasn't really any need for the narration. I did enjoy the performances, pity about the shoddy camera work some of it was a bit shaky.

reply

Maybe the narrator is a character to be introduced later.

"She is tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me"

I don’t want to ruin the show for anyone who hasn’t finished watching it but the Narrator is a character that appears in the 2nd episode. I didn’t actually mind the narrator but I would have liked it if he spoke less and was subtler.
I don't think you always need to tell the audience exactly what’s going on and exactly how to feel.

Especially when you have Ruth and Naomi on the job.
