Good choice for the Devil

A lady who stole peoples' wallets.
A lady who held up her ID and it couldn't be seen.
Physically, the least likely suspect.

Who was it again?

After Vince died and Sarah and Ben said "I've never seen a person die before", she kept her mouth shut. Well, of course the Devil wouldn't want to give away that he has seen plenty of deaths, but she's an old lady, so it's understandable/believable (and hence unsuspicious) that she had enough life experience to have lost several relatives/friends in her lifetime already and doesn't want to talk about it.

By the way, at the beginning of the movie, Ramirez mentions in his narration that he'd always thought the tale of the Devil was an old wives' story.

She wasn't that old. She looked about sixtyish, which is still young enough to not have seen anyone die, at least not in front of your eyes.

I'm not sure why you're disagreeing with what I wrote. Are you saying that it was rather unbelievable (and therefore suspicious) that she might have enough life experience to have lost several relatives/friends in her lifetime already and doesn't want to talk about it?

Also, do you think it's rather implausible for a woman her age to have seen her parents (or uncles/aunts) die?

Wow what an eye opening (not) revealation!

The devil made me write this!

I have to disagree. I pegged the old lady as the devil, precisely because pshyically she was the least likely suspect. I could have easily been wrong though, but honestly I felt it was a clichéd choice.

What Ro said. I called it when she turned down the too-full car. Tbh, I was kind of disappointed when it wasn't someone else.

reply

Well, I don't know. Now that I watched the movie for the second time, I was watching her carefully and there were give-aways, but designed exactly to be noticeable only when you know the plot. Like her being picky about which elevator to take (because she wasn't interested in people in the other elevator), or giving the main character a curious look when he said he saw people dying before, like she knew his story, etc.

But when I watched it for the first time, I was scared crapless when she got up :))) I didn't expect it.

Actually, I'm going to ask a question on the main board. I'm curious if people think she was possessed from the start, i.e. it was Devil picking up which elevator to ride, or she was herself until she died, and then Devil possessed her.

reply

I pegged her as the devil, because in American movies older women are always evil, mad or both.

You might want to put a Spoiler Alert in your Title if you're going to reveal a major plot point, dumb ass.

Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar, and / or doesn't.

The movie is YEARS old, dumbass. I hope I ruined it for you.

reply

Lmao. I would think by now no one would come to the board of a movie before watching it. At least I wouldn't.
