revenge my ass

She said that she wanted to take revenge for the death of her baby but killing herself in front of them i just cant see the logic in that. Maybe she wanted to dramatize the little girl and make her to grow up dysfunctional but that dosent make sense because she was so nice to the maid i dont she why she would want to do that to her. Can anyone explain to me the idea of killing yourself can be thought of as a act of taking revengeful?

The family is sweeping everything under the carpet. By committing suicide in front of all of them, she shows them that such acts cannot be hidden, she highlights their cruelty and rejects their solutions (paying money). It is not something they are likely to forget and the guilt will linger, at least in the subconscious. Her shadow will be present in the family forever, the last scene shows them frantically and pathetically trying to erase that memory.

That is what i initially thought but the ending is obscure to me and perhaps others as well. What i thought about the ending was the girl was the only one affected by the servants suicide by manifesting a dream world where here parents and other servants where collaborating together or maybe it is like you suggested that the the whole family was affected by the event but the only thing that draws me away from that conclusion is why would they hire more servants? Any normal person that wants to forget something would terminate anything that resembles or creates remembrance of that particular memory.

I would take that the final scene want to show the audience that despite of all the maid had done, still it didn't affect to the rich family in any way, they went back to their normal glamor activities with more maids around and act as nothing has ever happened, which is very terrible.

I know my reply's a lot toooooo late, but I'm posting a link of the director's interview where he clarified many doubts to soothe the people :)
