This Movie might have won the 2020 election

If it just pushed a few extra thousand people to vote in those key states, especially being revolted by Guilliani, I think this movie may have had quite an impact on American History.

People who would have watched it may have been lazy sofa bound folk, with Democratic leanings, who may not have bothered, but were given an extra push to go out and got by that last 20 minutes.

Don't take that victory away from Trump. He did it all by himself. I mean, cops were choking out people in the street and not a word from the president. COVID, its all a big joke. Mexicans in cages. Plus many other things.

Does it really take a highly edited honey trap video to get millions of people fired up to vote?

reply

No, not.millions, but maybe a few extra thousand in those key states.

Just a theory, a filllllllm theory :-)

Nobody is "choking". The knee in the back of the neck restriction technique doesn't choke. It's physically impossible: the trachea is not in the back of the neck. Regarding he famous 'I can't breathe' video, he wasn't being choked (unless he had the trachea behind the spine). He couldn't breathe because of a combination of health problems, anxiety and a drug overdose.

Anyway, cops need some way to contain suspects, and no way has zero risk. You take every method from them, they can't use the gun, they can't use the taser, now they can't use the knee in the back of the neck... what's gonna happen (and it's happening) is that they won't come the day you need them. Or they'll come several hours later, once they know there's no problems...

This is actually quite fun, because wokes often complain about cops. But once they reap the consequences (cops skipping turmoils), they bitterly complain about cops not appearing when they needed them.

COVID, its all a big joke.

Covid situation in US is more or less the same than in every other country, except East Asian countries.

There's countries that are doing better, others worse, and others probably much worse, but it don't show in the statistics because they can't barely test cases. I know for a fact that this was happening in some South American countries, and of course, in African ones, which would be at the top of the statistics, had they actually counted the cases. US is not doing much different from UK, Spain, Mexico or France. And probably much better than South America or Africa.

Mexicans in cages

That's true... but that didn't start with Trump. It happened during Obama's too. But I guess when a black puts Mexicans in cages, then it's OK, it's good, since blacks have a higher victim card than Mexicans.

By the way, Mexico has a wall in the south boundary. But again, I guess that's OK, since Hispanic putting a wall to prevent other Hispanics from entering is good, since both have an equal level victim card.

You mean to say a drugged up addict choked himself on the drugs while resisting arrest?

reply

I really doubt it, I think Trump's horrible response to the pandemic was what won for Biden. Did you know that the Navajo Nation had such high turnout that it may have been the deciding factor in swinging Arizona for the Democrats? That was because of the pandemic.

However, I have gained a bit of respect for Cohen because of this film. I hated the first film for two reasons - first because it wasn't funny, and second, because he was "punching down". This rich foreign Hollywood bastard tried to get ordinary working schmucks to say things that would make the whole world laugh at them, he was trying to make life difficult for people who had less than he did. At least in the second film he was "punching up", going after someone rich and powerful, and congrats to him for landing a good solid blow.

reply

Otter, I think you're wrong on this one.
His comedy is based on punching as famous and as "high" as he can.
Ali G often had panels and business meetings with big wigs (including the ex "president").
Borat too is usually aiming at elitist or upper mid class, if not celebrities.
The punching down is always mixed in because it's obviously easier to get that kind of footage, so it's there to fill up, but it's easier to get a response when a famous idiot makes a fool of himself.
If anything, he's democratic in approaching all classes and ridiculing them equally.
Do you think assholes in the lower classes don't deserve that because they are little people?
Fuck them! We wouldn't have gems like "throw the Jew down the well" come on, that's a classic!

reply

I can't speak for his career as a whole, as I don't like him or follow him, but good for him if he does a lot of "punching up"... I just don't remember any from the first Borat film. All or most of his targets in that one were ordinary working schmucks.

Some of whom were assholes, yes, but the fact is I have a bit of sympathy for ordinary working assholes, even if they are raging and vile assholes who work against all I hold dear. Mass media exposure can ruin careers and lives, although social media attack mobs weren't a thing when the first film came out. I'm against people like Cohen giving them targets.

reply

Ok I see what you mean, I agree that it's not fair for a mass media personality to take it against a regular joe because of unfair exposure.

But to play devil's advocate, should we pretend that these idiots don't deserve public humiliation? I agree it's not fair, but neither is to be an ignorant piece of shit that hides in anonymousness. At least this is outing them for what they are/believe.

reply

Well yes, vile behavior does need to be exposed, but the age of Twitter Mobs has made me super squeamish about exposing ordinary individuals. Sometimes the punishment can be far in excess of the crime, you just never know in the era of social media pile-ons. Which is, IMHO, the modern equivalent of throwing stones and garbage at someone locked in a pillory, something ugly and unworthy.

I'm glad you saw my point about Cohen doing it to regular Joes. There's so much more honor in humiliating a politician!

reply

It's possible. Americans are that stupid, after all.
