sea beast?

Is this the same movie? Can't get information on it.

reply

Looks like it to me... same actors, etc.

OMG! they're Murlocs from World of Warcraft!!! Too funny

reply

I know!!! when the crewman gets his first view of the monster on the dock, all I could do was think..."look, isn't that a murlock?"... took all the scary right out of the scene because they are kind of wimpy. Now I must go watch the youtube video for "I am Murlock" and giggle.

I thought they looked like the "licker" from the Resident Evil movie. You are robably right, though, I don't really know WoW. Holy cow, I just realized your post is almost 4 years old. I bet you haven't thought about this movie in awhile.

It would seem so to me, too, yes.

If so, SCIFI must be _really_ ashamed of it!

According to my dictionary, the primary definition of "troglodyte" is someone who lives underground, like a caveman. Whereas, one of the lesser meanings is a person of low intelligence.*

*Which would certainly describe whatever SCIFI Channel executive thought the words "troglodyte" and "seabeast" were interchangeable!

reply

Yes, it's the same movie.

i actually recorded this (set the DVR before gong out) because the creature looked interestng in the previews, and I really like horror movies where someTHING comes out of the water to eat people (or at least maul them)...Creature From the Black Lagoon, the She Creature (both versions), Humanoids From the Deep, the "lizard-fish" episode pof the original Outer Limits...even junk lke Creature of Destruction and Demon of Paradise! And I still think the creature design was pretty cool, but ugh, stupid plot...the bastard child of Predator and Snakehead Terror. Very disappointing. (I know, I know...the stand up comic George Wallace used tohave a joke about how leaving Denny's complaining about the food was like leavng a cathouse saying "I just didn't feel loved", and I guess watchng any SciFi orignal movie, wth few exceptions, and complainng about it being bland and derivative, is pretty much the same type of thing.)
The other, older female lead character (not Miriam McDonald) remnded me just a bit of Dee Wallace.

reply

It wasn't that bad. I thought it was going to be bad, judging from the CG boat in the storm at the beginning. The set/surrounding looked like the same for Snakehead Terror, though.

My complaints are, the people never once tried to figure what the beast was or where it came from. But there's only so much you can do in a Sci-Fi Channel movie.

reply

I was just annoyed by the fact that its now called Sea Beast but the critter spent most of it's tme on land, in the treetops(!), etc...whch seems like a stretch for somethng that apparantly came up from the depths. And I was also thnkng that looks lke the lake not only from Snakehead Terror but from every ScFi production that has a lake in it!
I am keeping it on DVD-R, because I liked the monsters and the acting was decent. Now I'm wondering if they rewrote or reshot just enough of this to change the title...maybe it was initially a beast-unleashed from-cave movie and they reconceived its origins post production, for whatever reason. (You're right, probably more thought than this warrants!)

Yes, that is definitely a rip-off of Predator, especially since the beast was able to make itself invisible to its prey.

reply

Yeh where were the laser sights and heatvision in weapons?
Unapparently the filmakers didn't not know the diffarence of camoflague to unvisibility. Woulda been interestin' (insteada o cheap I guest or else plain brain less) and a first to see camelion-like camo, which don't really change to suit environs, or even surroundins, but there's a fish or underwaturecreater that doos.

As soon as I heard that cloned clicking in the first encounter, I knewd that new dumb thing wad a red neck predator.
