She's from NYC... and she loves it? Again? Really??

Always the same character, it's Carrie Bradshaw all over again, just older.

That's EXACTLY what I thought! It's like, are you even TRYING to break away from your signature character? lol I'm surprised there isn't more talk about this...

It's funny because she wasn't Carrie until SatC started. Now all she seems to do is the "I love NYC" scthick. In any of her pre movies she isn't this obsessed (although I think in the 80's/early 90's she was living in LA w/ Downey. I know she lived there for a while).

She's still very likeable, even in these roles that conform to that image from SATC. Hugh Grant is playing his type, too, don't forget. Very likeable and attractive. They both are.

I completely agree, Paula! I don't have anything against SJP, but just a few minutes into this movie I thought, "She's totally just playing her Carrie Bradshaw role again." I don't think I've seen her in anything other than Sex In The City, so not sure if her acting is so limited that she's unable to play anyone other than Carrie.

I'd be interested to hear opinions from those of you here who have seen her in other roles.

I agree that she played Carrie over again, but she's not exactly the same. Carrie wouldn't buy $5 shirts and then scream after winning Bingo about being able to buy the cheap sweaters. lol...And there was no mention of her 500$ shoes but that doesn't mean she didn't have them.

Anyways. She was a different kinda girl in Failure to Launch, Family Stone, and Life Without Dick. Although I don't recommend any of them. I love SJP and watched those all randomly when they were free on netflix and to me they all sucked.

I've never been much of a SITC fan but I really loved Sarah Jessica Parker (and Hugh Grant, for that matter) in this film. I thought the whole cast did a great job but I especially enjoyed Sam Elliott and Mary Steenburgen.
