Terrible news! 2010 isn't a new decade, it's the last year of THIS decade! Can't wait to see what comes out in January 2011 though!

reply

1980: 80's

1990: 90's

2000: 00's

2010: 10's

Face!

"What are you putting that tape on your nose for?" "Exactly!"

reply

sorry I am afraid the first reply is correct 2011 is the first year of the next decade

reply

2011 indicates that "1" year has completed since the beginning of the new decade. According to your logic, 2001 was the first year of the new millenium... since 2011 is the beginning of the new decade. Offset of 11. Face.

reply

2001 was the first year of the new millenium!

also, if you're not a christian, why care :)

reply

i get what you are saying, but even an agnostic like me has to count the years somehow. and i'm lazy and following the majority is easier than making up my own calender (starting with the year of my bith of course)

Aaarghhh!!! Stupidity levels are too high! 1000 years ago we lived with dinosaurs and listened stone radios right? Get some education so you donĀ“t become retard rednecks.

reply

Tell that to Julius Caesar...

reply

The counting is way off for a christian anyway.

reply

Ok, seriously you guys are this dumb to figure out something so easy?

First question, how many years there are in a decade? 10? I hope you people know that atleast.

Now lets count it down!

31st of Dec 2001 > End of the first year
31st of Dec 2002 > End of the second year

31st of Dec 2009 > End of the ninth year

31st of Dec 2010 > Is the end of the tenth year.

So 1st of Jan 2011 will be the first day of the next decade!

reply

sorry I am afraid the first reply is correct 2011 is the first year of the next decade

Possibly the dumbest most puzzling thing I have ever read.

2000
2001
2002
2003
2004
2005
2006
2007
2008
2009

New decade

2010-2019

reply

There was no year 0. So you are incorrect.

reply

So the first decade had only 9 years in it? Because the clandar started from Year One, not from Year Zero.

1 CE
2 CE
3 CE
4 CE
5 CE
6 CE
7 CE
8 CE
9 CE

Makes no sense, does it? That is why decades go from 1 to 10, not from 0 to 9.

reply

...and yet it's going to theaters in America.

reply

I didn't need to go to Wikipedia to prove my point, just using my good old fashioned knowledge....deca=10 so a DECAde is 10 years. so if the 90s start with 1990, then 1999 would be the end of that decade. The decade starts with 2000 and ends TEN years later with 2009. So everyone stfu already.

As far as the movie. I've seen it and now own it. It was great! I like that Steve Austins few movies dont all have the same plot as John Cenas movies.

reply

Your `good old fashioned knowledge` doesn't mean a squat if you don't apply logic to it. You are aware that the year counting didn't start 20 years ago, right?

There was no `year zero`, so the counting doesn't start from 0 - it starts from 1... Hence, the first decade in the new era (AD) lasted from year 1 to year 10, second from 11 to 20 and so on. The new millennium began exactly 2000 years later - on year 2001, and the second decade of that new millennium will begin on 1st January 2011.

Now please educate your friends that missed that lesson in their elementary school.

reply

Yep, no year zero. Leave it to religion to screw up a perfectly logical numbering system.

I think pretty much everyone in the world celebrated the new millennium on January 1st, 2000. Everyone that celebrated it in 2001 should get slapped for being a moron.

Logic and Religion FAIL...yet again.

Pretty good movie though.

reply

Religion shmeligion--I may be a Christian but I do agree with nu14--Everybody celebrated the new millenium on the year 2000, which was a huge thing prior-to because of computers changing clocks, etc.

Anyways, back on topic--new hardcore action flick to kick off the decade, yay.

Let's see if it is possible for you to understand it this way-

"No, the 21st century started in 2000 as at the moment that year began, 2000 years had passed since AD0, and so every month, for example, in the year 2000 was the 2001st time that month had occurred (for argument's sake I'm ignoring historical changes to the calendar). Look at it another way: when you turn 18 you say you are 18 years old, but you are in your 19th year yes? So, now we've established that the 21st century began in 2000, we take the first ten years (the 'noughties' as they are sometimes referred to) as being 2000-2009, so the next decade of this century will begin with 2010, in the same way that the '80s began with 1980, the '90s with 1990 etc. and the third decade of the century will begin with 2020. Clear?"

reply

i always love this subject. and smile with the conviction that some people seem to honestly believe that the new millenium started in 2001. but if you sit down and think about it. as luvinsully has stated. the new millenium (or 3rd millenium) and 21st century started at 00:00.00 hours on jan 1st 2000. as did the 1st millenium at the same time 2000 years before. it's also correct to say that there was no year zero. as soon as the clock struck midnight at year dot, we were into year 1. but zero years had passed yet. so as soon at time actually or officially began, year 1 started.
so, if we advance almost 12 months to just before midnight 31/12/01. one year had passed. and we were about to start year two. though i doubt very much that many revellers were partying in the city centres around the world in those days. anyway, i digressed. let's cut to the chace and jump forward 1999 years to 31/12/1999. just before midnight that night, 1999 years had passed and as the clock struck midnight we were in to the 2000th year. a new millenium, a new century and a new decade.
it can be argued that a decade has not passed until 10 years have passed. hence the first decade didn't finish until the 10th year had finished, e.g. 31/12/10. that is true. but a decade is just a measurement of two points in time. such as 25/10/65 to 25/10/75. so a decade starts whenever you want it to start. so to say that a decade started at midnight 01/01/2000 and finishes at 23:59.59 31/12/2009 is correct. as it is also correct to say that the first decade ended at midnight 31/12/10.
we generally measure decades as in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. but it is also true to say that 201 decades have passed since the beginning of recorded time at the end of the day 23:59.59 on 31/12/2010.

reply

They year's go 2000-2001 is 1 year. 2001-2002 is two years. Continue this logic then 2009-2010 is 10 years, making 2010-2011 the start of a new decade.

Movie sucked... first time in a very long time that I had to turn it off after 30 minutes. Bad acting all around and a bad screenplay.

WHAT??

reply

thats just silly. are you above watching it. why comment then. ok so its rocky 600 but i quite liked it actually. not everything has to be cinema paradiso. sometimes its good to accept the genre and hope for the best. i would call it a solid two star plus film. reminded me of gran torino a bit, with austins zen like performance! it was good to see a 80s b movie with actual themes in it. and *beep* me - ambiguity! the actress is gorgeous , couldnt take my eyes of her and yeah theres alot of really!?! moments but not all of the turns played out as i thought. it was cool, and watchable and not the same in plot as every other similiar film. i was really hoping at the end when called son of a bitch one of the main characters drops everything and stone cold stuns the two people in front of him. now that would have been a classic...
