It seems like there isn't too much in the way of negativity

Yes, they'll comment on a dog's potential to be unhealthy, and whether it can be a city dog or needs a lot of exercise, etc., but they don't seem to comment on dogs that say, have a propensity to bark, or bite, or growl, or be unfriendly.

Have they covered this as to certain breeds?

Honestly, you wouldn't see too much of that, because there aren't too many breeds that are, as a breed, naturally unfriendly. There are some, but generally not the ones you'd expect, and not too many. They have commented on several breeds being "headstrong" or "requiring an experienced dog-owner to train", but that's not really a function of a breed's friendliness.

If a person wants a mean dog, generally they'll pick a breed that's physically strong so the dog will be able to "back up" the attitude, then TRAIN the meanness into their individual dog. This has nothing to do with the natural temperament of the breed itself, and is unfortunate because some of the breeds that are, naturally, wonderful family dogs (the various "pit bull" breeds, rottweilers, and German shepherd dogs, to name a few) have been given a bad rap because people can't separate the natural temperament of a breed from the temperament that some individual dogs have had trained into them by their owners. The fact that the media loves to jump on "dog bite" stories when these types of breeds are involved doesn't help, either.

Pitbulls and rottweilers are dangerous.

It depends on the way owners train them and care for them.

Have you ever even met any Put Bulls or Rottweilers? They are not dangerous as a breed. They are only dangerous if you don't know how to train and handle them. Pit Bulls have one of the best dispositions for children and the most loyal personalities. Rottweilers can also be wonderful family pets but they need a VERY strong leader, as do Pit Bulls. Both are large, powerful dogs that need to be trained to listen to their owners and be gentle and respect people. There have been numerous Pit Bulls and Rottweilers who are fantastic family dogs and therapy or service dogs. The fact is that they are both highly dominant, often not dog-friendly breeds who are very protective of their things. Dogs like that who think they are the boss (ie: who have owners who do NOT train and discipline them) can be extremely dangerous. It's the same like giving someone a gun that doesn't know how to handle it...someone might get shot. And it's not the gun's fault either, it's the gun OWNER. Besides, there are so many Pit Bull attacks on record, not just because they are often cruelly bred for fighting, but because they are one of the MOST POPULAR dogs in the entire country. Saying that Pit Bulls are the most dangerous because of some of those statistics is like saying black people are the most dangerous because they are the majority of people arrested in a mostly black community. Many reports also report attacks by breeds like this because it's easy to do so. The term "Pit Bull" is a vague term because it often encompass several breeds and mixes. I even once saw a report on a "Rottweiler" attack and the dog was some sort of large, shaggy mixed breed--possibly terrier mix. Don't talk about things you don't know about, especially when innocent animals suffer because of this ignorance.

Beagles??? You are joking? My Wifey used to have a beagle when she was younger and some of my friends have them now and they seem like a really friendly dog and I have never come across one that is savage. German Shepards on the other hand are another story and are very dangerous when they get lose.
