Originally I was excited for this film becuase I love Hugh Laurie & Leighton Meester and they were great together in House. Then I found out Adam Brody was playing Hugh's son which made me even more excited as I loved him in The OC BUT now I've found out the awesomeness that is Allison Janney (The West Wing, Hairspray) is playing Leighton's mother?

shareI had the same reaction! "Okay, cool, Alia Shawkat and Leighton Meester are in this! And Hugh Laurie! And Allison Janney! And Catherine Keener! And Oliver Platt! And Adam Brody!!!" Expectations went through the roof after reading through that cast list.
The great news is they all deliver! There is some excellent acting in this movie. Hugh Laurie is nothing like Dr. House. I also haven't seen Leighton Meester act this good before. Adam Brody is always good. Oliver Platt is at his usual career best with some comic gold facial reactions. Allison Janney was also very good. Keener plays the bitchy wife too often for my tastes. But least famous actor, Sam Rosen, was fantastic - albeit in a much smaller role.

I like Allison Janney, but man, when she plays an unlikable character, she really sells it. I loathed her!
