My Review of Clone Returns Home

I'm a big fan of adult science fiction films and novels, so I was pretty excited to hear about a new film coming out that was more about philosophy and ideas than explosions and lasers. Unfortunately, it was boring. I'm not talking 2001: A Space Odyssey boring, because Kubrick's film is one of my favourites: at least it has artistic merit and keeps me glued to the screen. Rather, it all feels a bit pointless and the ideas are underutilized. Most seem to disagree with me though.

Err, if you were glued to the screen by its artistic merit, then it shouldn't really qualify as "boring"-- if you mean that the plot or other elements weren't interesting to you, then you should try to expand your volcabulary when reviewing movies....

Not that you can't find this movie boring, but I have a pet peeve with people who were interested enough to finish a movie, but called it boring at the end-- by saying that they were "only" interested in or enjoying the visuals, or acting or something.... Cos the visuals, or acting or something ARE part of what you go to the movies for!

E.g. I would call a Shyamalan movie boring because I can't even be bothered to finish it, but I would only call Tron a silly or stupid movie for its not-to-be-taken-seriously plot (because the visuals/music kept me entertained).

Anyway, I get that you feel that the themes and issues explored in the movie were not interesting/meaningful to you-- Cos I actually liked how simple/basic they were.

If you care enough to go around telling people you don't care... you obviously care.
