the point of firms?

what i dont get is whata the point of firms fighting to begin with?i know in the movie bex was trying to rally all the firms together and like in other movies like green street or football factory which i recall the reason for firms is to show up another firm for rep or something along those lines.is that the only real reason y they mix it up besides gaining a big rush?i came to like this film more and more everytime i watch it.ive seen the original but this one really makes me want to go back to the 80's.thanks in advance.

The point is the buzz...the rush...50 against 50 (or more) stood toe to toe...the tribal nature of football fandom in the mix, and a young, pissed off generation of working class lads abandoned by the coldest government ever to rule the UK. Above all else..it was a release, and a laugh.

I had a few rucks at football matches back then, before I knew better, but I can't deny...it was fun. Of course it got ruined by dickheads coming tooled up, or attacking non-hooligans, much smaller firms, families, kids and what have you - which was way out of order - but an equal showing of two firms, all there for the same reason...that's a different story. Although I'm glad to see the back of it, and I'm glad football has [largely] seen the back of it. The game has been re-claimed by people with more sense than I had back then, and that is a good thing.

awesome! living in the states myself i had no prior knowledge of this type of subculture and i got sucked in to the history of hooliganism and the casual scene. we have nothing like this in the states and everyone over here fights with weapons so theres no real honor or pride when it comes to fighting.i just think movies like the firm shows how it was back in the day when people had some pride and loved what they did. it can really suck you in. ive watched every movie based on hooliganism and ive come to love this one alot even though some people respond negatively about the fights and how it trashed the original.this film made me want to go back to the 80's. thanks for the reply.

You should try reading some books about it.

Some really capture the time and atmosphere.
