The Original

The original of this movie starring Gary Oldman was great. Probably the best football hooligans film in my opinion.

I hope they do it justice

Very true, the original was the best of the bunch of football hooligan films.
Not excited about the remake though. I hope Nick Love can give it something else, a new angle maybe but from the trailer, the rawness of the original seems to be absent.

Well we already know the end,Bex gets blown away by the Yeti,so all we can hope for is a decent enuff lead up.

reply

why is the new one done from dominic's point of view?
one of the things so good about the original was seeing it mostly from bex's, cos he was such an interesting character.

also, i hope they haven't got rid of the bit where they all chant ICC and one of them keeps punching the ceiling.hilarious.

or when yeti sprays blue paint on their y fronts while they're playing football.

I was talking to my brother the other day about the remake - we agreed we probably won;t go out of our way to see it because we love the original so much and can't see the point in remaking an already perfect film.

and besides, the remake won't have phil mitchell going nuts in the back of a car on the way to a match!

The original,a tv film made by the BBC created a sensation,it was based on good research which showed that these people were not council estate yobs, they were mainly people in good jobs who used their money and brains to organise the pointless violence which was a stain on football in this period.

This new film will glorify the violence but won't show the hurt caused to the injured and their families.

Of course it will glorify violence, have you seen the director's other films?
He has only made a handful of films and 2 of them are about footbal violence.

Bex saying " Have you met my mate Stanley?" and then pull out a blade.

I bet Love will try and remake Scum next.

I'm getting the word 'Nonce'

The remake is practically a scene-for-scene re-do and doesn't particularly offer anything new. We had a good performance of 'Bexy' but clearly not as good as Oldman's, everything felt 2nd rate. Including the ending in this which doesn't have as much impact.

Yup, almost a duplicate of the original with only half as good actors and extra swearing. It's also the only film I've ever seen where I've struggled to understand WTF half of the cock-e-knee characters are saying. Football Factory, no problem. Damned United, no problem. This needed frigging translating half the time!

The two are like completely different films to me. The hooligans are virtually different breeds and the focus is on different characters with a different story arc. I prefer this film to the original although the original is a great film in its own right.

What a load of *beep* this film truely was.

This movie reminded me more of Quadrephenia than the original firm. Not that that's a bad thing.
