When it actually showed the dolphins in the cove being killed.....

Who actually watched that entire scene I really tried to but damn it was just to damn depressing. All that blood and the dolphins whistling and crap. I must say though one of the weirdest parts was at the end of the slaughter and the japanese diver guy came up from all the bloody water and went back down again. I guess to see if any survived.

It's hard to watch, yes.

That's the freakin' POINT.

It's not going to stop happening if we look away.

It'll stop happening if we DON'T look away.

Also, note the bloody water in the pail, where the 'fisherman' doused the fire.

dousing the fire as they were laughing about the whole ordeal that just took place.

I tried to watch it, but I couldn't. It's just too shocking to watch it all. Which is why it's good this movie is reaching so many people.

Yeah its definitely an eye opener I had absolutley no idea that this was happening in such a gruesome amount and for such stupid reasons i.e. eating the meat that could eventually kill u and selling them to aquariums. I kinda learned my lession though i will never watch a movie like this right b4 going to sleep. I couldnt get that image of the baby dolphin trying to swim away only to sink to the bottom and die from my guess of being stabbed .

You're supposed to have learned to not go to dolphin shows, or any aquarium that keeps dolphins captive for entertainment purposes. You're also supposed to think about how all of us--every living human--is killing the oceans by being so greedy and stupid. And this dolphin hunt is just one small example of that. You're supposed to do research into which kinds of fish you can eat that aren't caught in ways that despoil the environment and kill other sea creatures in the process, including dolphins.

I'm sorry it disturbed you. NO, scratch that! I'm so glad for you that this disturbed you so deeply. That means there's hope.

People whose livelihoods depend on slaughtering and mistreating animals (or people) on a regular basis almost invariably make a joke out of it. Defense mechanism. Similar behavior has been documented in labs that do tests on animals, and on livestock farms. The work tends to attract people who lack sensitivity to begin with. And then it brutalizes and desensitizes them still further.

It's not just a Japanese thing. Most Japanese would be just as shocked if they saw this footage. Which is why TPTB went to such pains to try and keep them from seeing it.

I learned my lessons long before The Cove tbough: no zoos/Seaworld type attractions, no meat, as small an ecological footprint as possible.

I did watch it completely, but I had to turn off the sound.. It was 2 much.
*beep* those people, the whole scene I wish some guy with an uzi came and shoot the *beep* to death

This is an excellent thread.

yeah I don't know what's with the diving man.
But how gross to go snorkeling in blood! Ughhh!!! Horrible job. But....dare I say deserved?

I watched the unedited footage that was uploaded on a website. The divers are looking for dead dolphins lying on the cove floor. When they find one, the diver brings it to the boat for the fisherman to drag on board.

Warning! The video is very graphic. If you were unable to watch the entire scene in the movie, do not click on this link

Very hard to watch movie for me as someone who has always had a fascination with dolphins. I have swam with a dolphin, very whimsical intelligent creature on a level closer to humans than the rest of the animal kingdom. People who don't understand why the killing of cetaceans is wrong are of a stone age mentality
