Just realized there's a made for TV movie remake being made of this... what's the point... This is a great movie it's own right, doesn't need to be re-made.

I agree. Remakes are generally a waste of time and money.

It will be a TV series on TNT. I seriously hope it isn't turned into a stupid action thriller. Hopefully it will stay a crime drama and go in more depth with the characters.
