they should...

do an episode where instead of slowing things down they speed them up, it is great to see how the seasons change, or how a plant grows real fast. An exemple here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtKnBFt1rwo

The problem with showing time-lapse is that it is so ubiquitous, due to the fact that just about anyone can do it. I've made pretty decent time-lapse with a digital still camera and a stopwatch. Also, I wrote a utility that collects webcam images at a given interval, and that makes for some pretty cool time-lapse.

Extreme slo-mo, on the other hand, requires use of high speed video and/or a high-speed camera. This is equipment that is very expensive to own and operate. Therein lies the appeal--it's not something you see very often. There is also the logistical problem of time-lapse in that it takes a long time to produce something that spans several seasons. Not something that would work well within a television production schedule.

All that being said, they actually did have some time-lapse in the Metallica episode, where they sped up the guy carving the hummingbird from a log using a chainsaw. That was great! So I'm all for adding some time-lapse in like that. It definitely qualifies as warping time!
