Enough of the gayness!!

This film I thought could have been much better than it was. People are saying it is a "Masterpiece" which I think is NUTS!!.. Also I'm sick of these gay plot lines all over the place nowadays. I have nothing wrong with someone's sexual preference but these days they shove it in your face ( no pun intended ) and it just makes watching these films uncomfortable for many people. You can say what you want and I'm a homophobe (which I'm not) but I'm by far not the only one that feels this way with the gay thing. I'm just not afraid to say it

You really have no idea of what having someone else's sexuality shoved into your face is until you have been gay in a heterocentric society. So maybe ten percent of your time (if even that) you are forced to notice that you share this planet with gay people, and you're "not afraid" to whine about it. Pardon me if I have no sympathy. Deal with it.

Well said, DryToast. If anyone ever finds themselves thinking they've "had it" with films that have some homosexuality in them, imagine yourself as a minority. I can guarantee you that every minority group has become a little fed up with the hetero-white-male model that the studios have forced upon the entire country.

Which is why we should have all stayed in our own countries. At least we wouldn't have to deal with that crap.

well said. why watch a movie about gay people if you're going to complain it's in your face? we should be fighting the stereotypes and demand the portrayal of realistic gay characters.

Sexuality is "shoved in our faces" in almost every movie period. Some of it is bound to be of the homo variety.

Uh, the principal character of this film is Alan Ginsberg, who was "in your face" gay, a founder of the Gay liberation movement. The principal characters are real people, with the film dealing with their developing friendships, each of who went on to be major literary figures of the past 70 years. What film did you expect to see? The synopsis of the film, the trailers are clear that one of the principal themes was homosexuality. You went to see a semi biographical film about the college years of Alan Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, William S. Burroughs, Lucian Carr, etc. and your offended by the portrayal of homosexuality!? You act like you walked into Rick's Cafe and like Captain Renault, are Shocked! Shocked! that gambling is going on.

Right now, at this time, Western society is going through a change of values concerning homosexuality, the meaning of marriage, of commitment, not only concerning homosexuals but also straight relationships and marriage. You didn't choose to be born now but this is what the society you happened to be a member of is dealing with at this time. 10 years from now, maybe 20, this issue promises to recede into the normal fabric of life. Get over it. And read the reviews or watch the trailers of films you choose to see before you happen to be presented with some subject that offends you.
