Although I've done this a few times I can never get sick of talking about the Halloween films so here's my rankings from worst to best:

Rob Zombie's Halloween II(2009):F-
"This film just doesn't do anything for me besides annoy me with it's nonsensical narrative and obnoxious characters. The visual style especially from the Director's Cut just hurts the eyes and makes it hard to focus. The film's good elements are Danielle Harris and Brad Douriff, the general concept of the film & that's it.Overall I'm very unsatisfied with this film."

Rob Zombie's Halloween(2007):F+
"This film as a member of the Halloween franchise family just doesn't work but as it's own Halloween inspired film it's actually pretty decent. The film's first half is a cool characters study on Michael Myers and his descent into madness but than the second half comes in and it's just a poorly done re-telling of the original Halloween of which I much rather be watching. So this film is fifty fifty"

Halloween 5:The Revenge of Michael Myers(1989):D
"This film I actually really love it took age for it to grow on me but out of the original Halloween series it's the least impressive in my eyes. The film's main problem is being a not thought-out film jumping off the coat tail's of Halloween 4's success of which resulted it some rather odd choices. But overall Halloween 5 does rock it has some really cool, unique and inventive creep scenes.A wonderful atmosphere to go in it's favor"

Halloween:The Curse of Michael Myers(1995):C
"This film is rather admirable you can tell a fan of the Halloween franchise was behind it and did the best he could despite some rather silly decisions with the plot. This film to me has the best fall time/Halloween atmosphere in the whole franchise. The problem I have with it is the stupid Thorn cult sub-plot that ultimately made this could've been higher installment down for me because it just hindered the quality a bit."

Halloween 4:The Return of Michael Myers:B+
"This film is bloody phonemail and a truly great return to form after the cool and interesting experiment of Part 3.This film does a better job of bringing the series back to it's routes than Friday Part 6.The story is brilliant homage to the original's story but with raising the stakes. The acting from Dr. Sam Loomis is super great here"

Halloween II(1981):B+
"This film is a very unique sequel by following directly after the events of the original Halloween I think I would consider this my favorite Part 2 to anything it's that so damn good. The film flows organically between Part 1.The location is creepy and atmospheric. The characters are amazing."

Halloween H20:20 Year's Latter(1998):B+
"Although I'm kind of pissed by the lack of knowledgement of 3-6 I still do think it's for the better with all that insane Thorn cult stuff in the way.Halloween H20 is a very story based film with Laurie dealing with her troubles.I like the Scream vibe this film adopted it was beneficial for the Halloween franchise.I hate the ending tough"

Halloween III:Season of the Witch(1983):A-
"I believe this film adds a great deal of charm to the franchise and certainly helps raise it above the Friday the 13th films with it being a cool side story within the Myers universe.I like it's Sci-Fi plot it's a very well made and excueted motion picture with a great plot. The film is just amazing with no problems at all"

Halloween(1978):A
"The one that started it all and gave birth to this awesome franchise. From the inventive beginning to the cliffhanger ending is just brilliant. The film is complex in it's simplicity"

Halloween:Resurrection(2002):A+
"This film works the most for me.I love it's clever concept, fun characters, & for getting the series back to essences of the original.Michael Myers is a complete badass in this film the way he slowly and effectively kills off his victims.Their no weak spot in this film.It was cool to kill of Laurie Strode"

Halloween II (2009), with its surreal dream sequences and array of unexpected cameos - most notably from Weird Al Yankovic, playing himself - is the strangest film in the series and one of the weirdest slasher movies out there. But not in a good way.

In fairness, it's nowhere near as bad as Resurrection or Curse. The acting is good and Rob Zombie deserves credit for trying something so different, but he just didn't nail the execution.

The entire film, with its murky lighting, jarring editing, obnoxious characters and dialogue which is mainly 'effing' this and 'effing' that, is incredibly ugly and repulsive, while it also fails to ever be scary or suspenseful.

As well as this, the dream sequences are mostly just really silly, the story is never involving and it all concludes with a limp finale that doesn't offer any sort of catharsis.

It also ruins all three of the main characters. Laurie is very tiresome, Dr Loomis is suddenly a complete bastard for no apparent reason and Michael Myers spends most of the film having weird visions of his dead mum and with his mask off.

The director's cut is a little better, but this remains an ambitious failure whichever version you watch.
