I saw this on Saturday, but am really curious about the release plan?
I saw this the other day, mainly because it seemed to come with a lot of actors that I completely love.
For me, Adam Scott, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Amy Poehler, Clark Duke, Richard Jenkins, and Catherine O'Hara were HUGE selling points (and for others, I'm sure Jane Lynch should have drawn a bigger crowd - I like her, just not so much the "Glee" popularity). It was funny, and had some relatable ideas in it that I understand as an ACOD (LOL), myself. That said, my parental situation isn't nearly as messy as Carter's, but it was still fun to watch.
Anyway - I'm quite curious as to why it seems to be pretty buried as far as release goes. Most of the stars are pretty big names these days, and I'd think the film could make a few bucks if released a little more widely. I get that it's an indie film (and that's another reason I liked it), but still - when I looked for it in New York City, it was playing in exactly 2 theaters. Two great theaters, mind you, and luckily, one is quite near my house - but still. Two theaters in NYC? That's VERY limited.
I went on Saturday night (and yes, it was the last showing that night, and was quite late) - but for a theater that I've seen packed at that hour, there were 3 of us in the whole theater. What's the deal?
Clearly, due to the (non)response to the film on this board, I'm feeling like no one saw this thing.
Does anyone have any knowledge as to why this movie likely has almost no one watching it, and why such a tiny, tiny, release?
