Worth watching. Some cliches. Could have been much better

Some cliches: 1.At least one genius black person to offset the surrounding underachieving or crimminal elements.2.Black prowness with women of non-black rivals-Curtis tore up the Hispanic girl for a long session and her recently out of jail beau cannot go for longer than 2 minutes. 3.Some life tragedy and circumstance turns decent black fellow to life of crime. 4.Crime lord living large. Although Clifton Powell was excellent as always.

Positives:
1.Damn good shooting scenes.
2.Good story in there somewhere

Negatives:
1.Cliches above
2.The little brother reminded me of Gary Coleman from his Different Strokes heyday. Poor acting in almost every scene. I had to laugh when the 13 year old was considering his career options post undergraduate!!
3.Wooden acting here and there from Curtis.

Not a bad effort for Curtis considering he wrote, acted and directed. One of the Producers as well. But one would think he would have absorbed more than was shown in the film in the years he has been exposed to Hollywood film making. It was amateur in certain elements and it showed.

What was the point of the Lesbian sex scene? Weird.

reply

Of course the lesbian sex scene was added just because they could, I think what really bothered me was the fake booty lol. I agree, it wasn't too bad of a film. I actually like the way the film was edited. I wasn't expecting much of a masterpiece though he has potential. 50 cent has gotten better as an actor, like you said there it was a bit wooden though.
