There Can Only Be One

Steve Perry is the best--and only!--lead singer of Journey! I say this because I have lived in Steve Perry's hometown and we still hold him in high regard. We also have a big Filipino community here. They know who Steve Perry is, too!

Steve still comes down to Hanford/Lemoore from San Francisco. We have the occasional sightings and he is very gracious towards his fans. So please, do not support this movie.

The New York Rangers suck. And Sidney Crosby is a cry baby!

Why on earth not? I love Steve Perry and Journey, but he left the band of his own accord, for whatever reasons. The band carried on, found a great replacement with an interesting back story, and they are recording new music that Pineda collaborated on. All due respect to Steve, I can't wait to see this movie.

reply

I will support this movie and Go NYRangers!!

reply

There was a Journey before Perry and there is a Journey after.

Perry is long retired - the band is not.

reply

A cover band.

The New York Rangers suck. And Sidney Crosby is a cry baby!

reply

Ridiculous.

It's Neal Schon's band. How can a band who still creates new music, and contains 2/3 of the writing team of most of their hits be considered a cover band.

Wow - you're gone.

reply

While you may be a Steve Perry fan, he is hardly the only lead singer of Journey.

reply

While Steve Perry may be the most well known vocalist for Journey, he's far from the only one. Not only is Arnel Pineda an excellent addition to the line-up, he has a great personality and adds a new dynamic to their music.

This was a great documentary, by the way. Would recommend.

Oh is that supposed to make you seem less racist? What does your filipino community have to do with anything? Is that your way of saying you have filipino friends so your bias against Arnel isn't racist? Steve Perry is no longer the singer and without Arnel there would be no Journey. Perry was not the only singer in Journey. There were two before him and there have been four after him with Pineda being the permanent replacement.

You know what, creep: There would be no Journey today if it hadn't been for Steve Perry. Journey should have stopped existing when Perry left Journey. That Arnel guy is just another singer singing with a Journey cover band. And if you don't like my comment, you can suck it.

reply

Troll, please. Steve Perry wasn't Journey all by himself. He helped put Journey on the pop map but they existed as a band with a major label contract long before he came. It was Neal Schon and Greg Rollie from Santana's band that gave them their original credibility. Without Schon's fiery guitar work and later, his and especially Jonathan Cain's great songwriting, it would just be the Steve Perry Bar band probably doing REO Speedwagon covers. Just like Arnel was doing. None of them are greater than the total sum of the band together at least not without the three principles players mentioned, no offense to Ross Valory and whoever was playing drums. If so, Perry would have had more hits on his own after his debut album.

It's not an either/or situation. I like both, without feeling that I am cheating on the other.

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!
