I can see why they remade this almost immediately.

I watched these in reverse order; I saw The Lost Tribe, was amazed at how much of a ripoff of The Predator and The Descent it was, and then decided to go watch the original, "worse" version.

This movie isn't horrible, and Jewell Staite doesn't do a bad job. But while the remake isn't *wonderful* it does have much better pacing, creature effects, sound, settings, motivations and characterization.

One "little" thing in particular that I liked about the remake is that it's much more jungle-y. Here, half the time, they just look like they're in the woods. Dry areas with fallen leaves, etc.

In the remake there's much more of a jungle atmosphere and sounds.

One interesting thing....why in the "we'd like to thank" part of the credits, do they thank Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone, along with Jesus and Mohammed? Weird.

Ooh, and Emily Foxler made that list as well....she ended up being the lead in the remake, and (I think) marrying the lead actor / co-producer in THIS one, Justin Baldoni.

Don't know the remake, but ironically, this 'worse version' does have a higher IMDB rating....:)

This one is actually better.
