Why do the Chinese like Wei Zhao????

She looks drab & plain on camera & in every film shes been in it was the other actors who carried the film. She's not even pretty so these dummies put her in an armor & throw out in the desert, lol. That was a bold move & u have to have a pretty dahm strong imagination to ignore that shes playing the role of MUlan. Kun Chen & turtle carried the whole film! They need to take lessons from Bollywood directors in "coupling"

Because she was the Chinese sweetheart thanks to her breakout performance that "Return of the Pearl Princess" period piece soap. She was really cute and feisty in that TV series and gained legions of loyal followers. And she's been living on that reputation since.

I haven't liked her in anything since then though :/

I have nothing against her. Just a little confused because I've only seen her in Red Cliff and Mulan, both in which she plays female warriors in ancient China. Not sure if it's typecasting or just coincidence.

You should see "Chinese Odyssey 2002" -- also with Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Faye Wong, and Chang Chen.

She's terrific in "Chinese Odyssey 2002". But that would likely be too complicated for you, as it was produced by Wong Kar Wai.

"Drab and plain"? Did you not learn that war isn't a fashion show?

And there is no way she could look other than attractive.

Ok, so we see your priorities for when you go to see a movie. Most people, however, are looking for a STORY. THAT is what makes the movie. This is why the American film industry has been in a state of decay for a couple decades now; it's no longer about the story, but about how pretty or well-known the actors are. Therefore, the movies end up sucking ass because more attention is paid to superficialities than to actual depth and quality.

Sig under construction

While she is not gorgeous, she is pretty. Also, she was *meant* to look like a boy. Did you miss the whole movie premise?

my thoughts exactly, She looked Amazonian in Red Cliff 1 and 2 as well, with a touch of feminine
