Amazement!

I'm amazed over the half-assed criticism this film has got by half-assed American (perhaps I'm forgetting some half-assed criticism of EU besserwissers; my apologies if that's the case) critics of this film. What is it? Envious over the fact that Asian film makers could make an adaption of Mulan that didn't flop and is no worse (even better as considered by some) than the "offical Disney version"?

These "critical" posts by users here on IMDB and by some fancy commercial "critics" have made me muse over the theory whether watching too many factory produced American Hollywood movies (or other lousy cult movies) causes some sort of degeneration of the brain tissue responsible for general attention-span and empathetic understanding of phenomenal representations?

So, to to make my whole point in short-hand: I'm amazed of the metamorphic power of this movie to turn a significant ratio of viewers of Western citizenship into cod-heads for as long as the topic is held.

Bother, over this contra-negativity, if you like but I won't care.

Your point? What point do you speak of? You didn't commit one syllable to crafting a case for why this is a good movie at all, and that amazes me.

Anyone who is familiar with the Mulan legend will find little of it to recognize or enjoy here. That was my main problem with it. And my wife, who IS from China, found it to be laughably bad from start to finish. We both walked away from it unable to think of what we'd just seen as anything other than completely terrible.

Familiarity does not make you or your wife experts. All it does is set expectations. This film did not meet your expectations. Your critiques in another thread highlighted your expectations and the film's failure.

The artists on this project did not interview you and your wife to guide them. It would serve you well if you tried to enjoy the film from their fresh perspectives.

Throwing the word 'legend' about means you likely have blinders on.

Now I watched it because of your comment and it's no better than a 6 from my point of view.
So you're just as arrogant as the ones you despise. As all of us.

I admit the dub did a lot to my disapproval (weird speech pattern). Should watch it in original with subs but cba to go through that boring long story now again... I already fast forwarded a seemingly never ending dying part the first time I watched the blu-ray.

It had it ups but mainly downs and was dragged too long in between and skipped to much near the end. >.>
And that Hua Mulan got through as a male was as believable as Superman remains unrecognized when he wears glasses.

No movies, from wherever produced, can be so stupid as the countless dumb tv shows that seem to be so beloved by the masses that they get repeated again and over again.
