Mulan's Hand scars

Why does it look like Wentai finds out the person taking a bath with him is a woman, by looking at the scars on her hand? Was it just a coincidence?

On the other hand, it also looks like he just made that wounds himself when they were fighting. But even if he had long and strong nails, he wouldn't mark her so badly, right?

Can someone explain these scars to me? What am I missing here?

It's a distinguishing mark.
In the hot spring, under the water, he clearly felt something because he grabbed her from behind and remarked, "You're a woman!"
She hid her face and fled, but he'd seen the marks on her hand and then noticed them the next day, when she lied about the theft in order to not disrobe (which would have resulted in the same death penalty anyhow).

No offense, but it was pretty obvious.

Thank you for replying me. So, basically I wasn't missing anything.

What led me to write that question was the timing of the frames. He sees the scars and immediatly says she's a woman. So I was left thinking if there was a connection, but there isn't. With a different editing of that scene, the question would not have risen.

That last sentence: totally unnecessary.
