This is exactly why I dont watch tv-shows.

Christ, what a letdown. Not only did the show become increasingly worse with every episode, particularly the 2nd season, but it never got concluded. I had a feeling it wouldn't, but dammit...
I actually thought it had some decent writing at first, but to no avail.

I dont understand why they dont just make mini-series like the original show. Too many stupid new shows get cancelled after one or two seasons and ultimately is just a complete waste of everybody's time. *beep*

I, too, am very disappointed that it was never concluded. I actually really liked the show but felt like I wasted my time since we were never given a conclusion. I feel like the audiance deserves an ending.

reply

It did conclude the Visitors won.

reply

For me, the ending was more like a cliffhanger. Obviously not all humans were blissed, only the ones that seemed to have a direct view of the mothership. If everyone were to be affected, then Erica and the rest of the people underground should have been blissed too. Or at least when Erica stepped out of the underground complex and was exposed to the "bliss-rays" or what the hell they were.

Ending didn't make much sense to me, really. I didn't like it any more than most of the series.

The original V tv series that aired in 1985 also had a failed end. It left off with the now teen or early 20s Elizabeth boarding the Leader's ship, which departed. They notice Kyle was missing and realize he stowed away on the ship. Then it ended. At the beginning of would-be season 2, Kyle, Elizabeth and the leader were to die when their ship was blasted out of the sky.
I'm glad the 1985 series was cut down. It took everything good from the miniseries and crapped all over it. Robert Maxwell, Martin, Elias all ended up dying. Ham Tyler ended up leaving.

reply

Which is why it should just continue as a comic book series instead. This show will never run it's course on TV.

reply

I read somewhere that the original creator of the first two mini series was going to restart from either the three part mini series "The Final Battle" or even the two part mini series and redo everything from there.

reply

I, for one, welcome our new sexy blissful overlords

reply

Hahaha,... great kent brockman reference, ..i see it went over everyones head :P

reply

They won because the show got cenceled before it had a chance to conclude properly. This is a major problem with network dramas. Unless they do huge numbers they are all canceled without an ending. At least Fringe is getting a finale, albeit a sped up one.

OHHH GOOOD FOR YOU!!

reply

My thoughts exactly. I'm positively thrilled every time I hear that a show is actually finished. It happens seldom enough outside HBO.

Take a look at British TV. On the one hand they have several short, five to eight episode series, a lot of which are very good (Ultraviolet, State of Play, Hit & Miss, Line of Duty, The State Within, and just two episodes in but looking very promising, The Fall). I especially recommend State of Play, one of the best TV shows ever made. Excellent script, very good directing, and possibly the best cast ever assembled.

On the other hand, they have Doctor Who, running for fifty bloody years.

reply

What's the matter with Doctor Who? It's a legend. Don't dis the Doctor.

Oh that's more funny then a screen door on a battle ship- Biff Tannen

reply

Ooooohh another Ultraviolet fan!

I reckon that was one of the best little SF series out there and so wonderfully underplayed (I am Australian of British origin).

reply

American tv needs to take a page from BBC series and slim down the episode count tremendously. then there would be less filler, actual endings, and less wasted money.

It's not like HBO is innocent in this game; for example, Deadwood and Carnivále got cancelled too, and those shows were amazing.

reply

Ah... it was concluded... "V: The Final Battle." Remember?

reply

There was a 19 episode series set after 'The Final Battle'. It was left on a cliffhanger....

reply

Annoyed by the cgi Yself ..
