They could have cut up one of those dead Visitor they killed on national TV to expose that they are reptilan. With that their job is done and they could just sit back and let Tom Maison to win the war for them.
shareThe writers probably didn't want to expose the Vs that early in the series ... at least not on a global scale. Just enough to keep the audience hooked (and give the Fifth Column members soemthing to fight). If the wrtiers exposed the Vs too early, they'd write themselves into a corner. That plot point would be better served towards the end of the series (which I'm sure they projected to last at least 5 seasons).
shareThe problem is that in most TV-shows, the writers makes a show where there are too many easy solutions that would end the show in 3 or 4 episodes. I wonder, are the American people as stupid as TV producers think they are? ;)
