Amusing or laugh out loud moments

"I'm afraid the Armageddon package is extra, yeah. Well? It protects you and your family from any type of apocalyptic disaster: Asteroids, obviously. Plague, famine, locusts..."

"Look at him...sound asleep in his sandwich board." - This made me laugh because it's a sentence you won't hear every day.

Dodge saying, "I've got a pretty good lead on a school desk," after being told there's no room for him in the bomb shelter.

"Well, maybe I'll run into you at a support group or an orgy or something."

Dodge deciding the dog's name was "Sorry."

Dodge's dad/Martin Sheen: What's the dog's name?

Penny: Sorry.

Dodge's dad: What?

Making the little girl at the party chug alcohol.

^^ "Fight through the burn!"

I had the same amused reaction Penny did when the cop was reeling off the ludicrous violations. Might as well throw on as many violations as possible, it doesn't matter anymore!

Adam Brody cracked me up. In his first scene he shoved the door shut as if it weighed 100 pounds. Then later, "He's old. He's not even good-looking. What, do you have a job? MR. JOB!"

Amy with the traffic report: "We're f--ked, Bob!"

Elsa: "You are firing me? Is this because I don't watch TV with you?"

I died at the party scene with all those kids drinking.

reply

Ok, I'm glad someone else laughed at that. Other commenters were "saddened" by the scene and I thought maybe there was something wrong with me.
No, it's definitely funny b/c it's so ridiculous!

Who wants Heroin?

I think it may have been a newscaster in the background of the first scene.

...Once again, if you're just tuning in, the C.S.A. space shuttle Deliverance has been destroyed. The final mission to save mankind has failed. The seventy mile wide asteroid known commonly as Matilda is set to collide with Earth in exactly three weeks time, and we'll be bringing you up-to-the-minute coverage of our countdown to the 'End of Days', along with *all* your classic rock favorites. This is Q107.2.

I loved that it was basically the plot to Armageddon and every other typical earth destroying commet movie that they lampooned immediately.

I liked the part with the bug, he lets it live, and then it's crawling on his face biting him... that made me laugh... as well as many of the other parts that are mentioned - but didn't want to repeat what everyone else had said...

"I drank milk that tasted funny"

reply

One part that really cracked me up was towards the end, and the newscaster during the final broadcast after mentioning how much time was left just casually mentions, "Today is daylight savings time. Don't forget to move your clocks forward."

So subtle I bet some people didn't even catch it the first seeing it, but the timing was perfect lol.

- The General has spoken.

reply

I thought I was a being a little insensitive finding that humorous, considering the situation, but I had to chuckle at that, because it was so nonchalant .. lol

"You are the diet coke of evil... Just one calorie...not evil enough"

reply

I like the tongue-in-cheek humor since daylight savings doesn't matter anymore. Also, people would wonder if it means the apocalypse is an hour sooner. I laughed at that scene yesterday when it was on one of the HBO channels, because of the timing of them showing the movie when many of us were just about to set our clocks forward. It's almost as if HBO did it intentionally ;)

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

At the "last supper" dinner party, Patton Oswalt is very drunk and slurring to Dodge, "The sky is falling, and it's raining p*ssy! P*ssy, p*ssy, p*ssy!" Then gesturing to the girl Karen dancing in the living room, "Wanna double stuff that cookie? Two chefs in the kitchen!" I almost fell off the couch laughing!

 His song is catchy! I like singing it.

I literally was ROTFLMAO when Owen was telling Penny he loved her and would always protect her, then in a split-second, when the gunshots started, he instinctively used her as a human shield. 
