What's with the R rating in the US?

I mean, are you serious? WHAT makes this an R rated movie, cause I don't see no porn or hear no cussing.
In Denmark it's rated G (for all ages, or as it's called in Denmark "A Family Film").

Anyone get why it's rated R? PG I could understand, but R!!!???

reply

Rated R for crude sexual content and language.

In the US version it has quite a lot of swearing. There are numerous amounts of f-words, s-words, pussy and cock are said a couple of times, etc. Even if you watch the promo on youtube, it is obvious that it has an R rating.

If you saw a dubbed version of the movie, that may explain it. When a movie is dubbed, lines usually change to different words, but still contain the overall same meaning.

reply

Don't explain anything. In Denmark we use subtitles, we only dub cartoons.

reply

+ the identical danish version from 1999 got the exact same manuscript, just translated into English, and it also got rated G

Americans are prudes compared to Danes, they cant even tolerant talk about premarital sex or birth control

reply

Because it's America and not Denmark.

1. In America they are very scared of bad language.
2. Anything having to do with teen sex is a no no.

That's why.

reply

The R rating has nothing to do with the sexual content, if you knew anything about the MPAA you'd know movies can have sexual content and still have a PG-13 rating, up to the fondling of bare breasts which gets a R rating. The movie gets its rating from the strong language; cock, pussy, sh't, f'ck. All countries have different values jackass.

reply

Well if the f-word was used more than once, that's an automatic R rating in the U.S. Or at least that's the case, usually.

reply

You're an idiot. The rating system gives parents the information they need to decide if their children should see the movie. It doesn't prevent adults from seeing anything they want to see. Perhaps you like to watch teens having sex, I don't know sounds like your problem. But parents who actually parent their children might like to use the rating system to protect their children from content they shouldn't be exposed to and turn out like you!
