How many people died just to save that one woman?

Was she even royalty?

Seems to be the theme of all movies these days. Males should sacrifice themselves en masse to save one female. I remember one zombie movie where 20 guys would have been alive at the end of the movie had someone put a bullet in one womans skull within the first five minutes. I do not agree with the current push in the media to worship females. Its retarded. If she wants to run into a crowd of 50 zombies to save one puppy then let her die. Her life is no more valuable than a mans life.

@ memysabu:

As a woman I have to agree; I think it's ridiculous that my gender bleat about equality all the time, but yet are quite happy to have the entire male population do all their fighting for them.

Personally I adore my dog, and I'd try and save him, but not to the point where I am putting other people's lives at risk. That is ridiculous; but sadly how women are these days - at least in films. I saw a movie where a guy died to save this stupid chihauha <sp?> for some blond bimbo who didn't even look back as she scuttled off with her pathetic pooch clutched in her scrawny arms. If it had been a real dog it could've jumped the damn gap anyway without the guy dying to help it.

I don't think its a recent thing. Quests to save the girl, frequently the princess, have been around for as long as fiction and usually a whole bunch of people die in the process. When it's one dude trying to save the love of his life, meh, I'm okay with it but it does get tiresome when everyone else has to die in the process like so many expendable suckers.

True feminine beauty naturally induces a state of worship in men, and by 'worship' I mean adoration, wonder and fascination. It's just the way it is.

You mean, they want to *beep* her.

That and a whole lot more.

She's referred to as Princess numerous times throughout the story. Yes, she's royalty.

By the way, I've loved mythology since I was a child and have been reading especially Greek and Roman tales for nearly 45 years. I'm very impressed with this! It has a lot going for it as a presentation of a new myth. It doesn't deserve to be torn apart. It follows the old tales, as noted by another poster. There is a quest, with heroes sacrificing their lives and proving their courage, which has been the warriors' way throughout history. Yes, this is a take on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, and they did a good job of creating a separate story with a few shared elements. I'd definitely watch this again!

Stupid loss of life is seen in "zomboid" and slasher movies, where they make idiotic decisions and line up to get slaughtered.

In contrast, this is a tale of ancient heroes going on a quest to rescue an innocent life lost. They lose their lives in battle. The greatest warriors return home.

At least these two might have a happy ending, which doesn't happen very often in Greek/Roman myths. "Happily ever after" is a rarity in this storytelling.

As for those who mention Kevin Sorbo's "Hercules"... While I enjoy that series, I certainly do not look to it for a proper approach to mythology, not with the quantity of anachronisms loaded in those episode. It's enjoyable, but it's definitely not in the same category.
