Just watched it

and I liked it! Sue me!
I discovered this movie through youtube and it made curious enough to go out and search for it.
While the run time almost drove me off of it, I don't regret at all the almost three hours of length.
It has enough drama, action scenes and comedy to please everyone. I was surprised to see Stan Winston Studios being credited here, and while watching it, I was amazed at the level of the animatronics and practical effects.
The CGI are not the best ever, but not the worst. Good effects.
Above all, it introduced me to Rajinikanth, who gave two great performances while delivering great charisma and a big on-screen personna and the beautiful blue-green eyed Aishwarya Rai.
If you came across the YT video, give it a chance!

Wow and since am I a badass?
Why did you find my opinion "dishonest"? Care to elaborate?
And I was not trying to heat up the discussion.
Geez.

reply

Ven, what is the problem? People like this film, even non-Indian people and thier praise for it is not sarcastic. You seem a bit overly sensitive.

reply

Again, very good sarcasm. I appreciate that. But how many non-Indian have appreciated? Maybe, you and other guy on this thread might have appreciated. However, let me not stretch this so far. If you people really enjoyed it, i have no problem. Personally, i didn't liked this movie at all. I respect your opinion.

Cheers.

I was *not* being sarcastic.

It was a pretty good movie. Although I don't watch much contemporary Hindi cinema, I enjoyed the tangent that Shankar diverged into for the film, Robot, which combines the themes of sci-fi, romance (no surprise), action, and comedy. Really all-around an enjoyable experience. I am no way a great hindi film critic but I liked the mention of Isaac Asimov's "Three Law of Robotics" which is by-large known from, USA's I-Robot nowadays. It's a hell lot better than most Hindi films out there currently which overdose on emotions, love, love, love, and more love? I'm not saying that there isn't love or emotion displayed in Robot but.. it's in a different context than the usual Hindi film.

I find it funny that people are bashing this and taking it way out of proportion that it needs to be which leads me to question if they have an alterior motive to expressing such distaste for this film.

Frankly speaking, Rajnikanth was a phenomenon in this movie with Aishwarya Rai. In his dual part of playing Dr. Vaseegaran and the android, Chitti, I found myself sympathezing with Dr. Vasee then later on Chitti! It lasted more for Chitti, especially after his phase from Love -> Hate -> Normal Chitti, now that was a heart-breaker.

Cool watch for Robot, I look forward to Rajni's next film, Rana. Also, can't forget to mention the musical composer for this film, the legendary A.R. Rahman.

Good movie. 9/10

reply

Great movie, I agree! Loved it!

reply

The movie seemed like it was made in a rush. The robot was made very quickly and was roaming around Aishwarya freely. The robot designer didn't seem concerned much. He even destroyed it without making the effort to rehabilitate it.

For balance,

I am Indian (non tamil) and this movie sucked donkey b@lls..
like most indian attempts at sci-fi and superhero stuff..

immature, retarded and tedious masala

reply

Yup the movie sucked. It's just like another south indian retarded action and sci-fi attempt. Rajnikant is good actor but rest movie sucked. Even aish can't act and have no idea why is she getting roles in film. This was 200 crore flop. Could have invested 200 crore in south india development.

reply

I'm an indian too... my son always enjoyed watching endhiran. I like this movie.

I have seen alot of bollywood copy BS pure crap cinema. This one killed them all in every filed. Even the first song seqense with Aishwarya Rai and Rajnikanth was just mind-blowing. Even if it takes 100 years, copywood will never make a song or a film like this because they have ZERO talent in every field. Even when they copy a great film they FAIL so hard, it's just pathetic.

All this hate about this film is by bollywood freak khan fans who are just pissed of because their crappy favorite star make pure crap films with the same damn *beep* beat BALE BALEE PRA PRAAA.

GET A LIFE. If you didn't like the film. Don't come to this thread and spread your hate. Feel sorry for you guys, get a job or maybe a girlfriend?

Arrey, Dost!.

I am from Tamil Nadu. I was born in Tiruppur. I hate Endhiran, worst movie ever. So, you consider as Bollywood fan or traitor?. I hate Bollywood more than Kollywood. As you said, more talented persons are from South India, that too, from TN. But as far as Endhiran concern, the movie sucked all the way. Mokkai padam.....
