My blood aunt is an African American woman married to a Hispanic man and they have a daughter together. They've been married for about 17 years now. But I can't think of any really funny "situations" that have come up regarding the differences in their nationalities/cultures, I can't think of any serious/bad situations either but that's because our family doesn't care about or focus on the differences in nationality, race and etc. It doesn't matter to us. It's not some big deal.

Yes, I am Black and my husband is Mexican. I will say as far as our families are concerned no there was no real shock on my side. My family was very accepting and so was his family. They were just shocked. But from the day they met me they were very loving and curious about Black culture. We have a facebook group of other couples.

I disagree about Spanish being important to your culture. Don't get me wrong, it's great to know another language. But speaking Spanish is not really the most important part of your culture. The only reason Latinos speak Spanish is because they were Native Americans who were conquered by conquistadors. It's similar to Nigerians who are able to speak French because the French colonized Nigeria. Some Nigerians speak the language and some don't. Speaking French isn't really a part of Nigerian Culture. Real Cuban culture would be knowing the actual language those Native Americans spoke before they were conquered.

Oy vey. Someone trying to define culture. Even seasoned anthropologists can't define it.

My husband is Mexican and we've had a lot of fun pointing out our differences. That's just the kind of people we are, we love each other for these very reasons. Our son is still a baby but we are dedicated to keep Spanish as another language in our home.

Just like OBI-4 said - The French have NOTHING to do with Nigeria - the British colonised them and, as a result, English is used there as a nationwide uniting lanuage as the different regions have their own languages (a it like each U.S. state having a local language but using English to speak to someone from other parts of the country)

However, French IS spoken in MANY African countries as the national language, such as Niger, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Chad, Senegal, Congo(due to Belgium), Togo, Benin to name just a few.

Maybe you meant Niger rather than Nigeria

You are quite ignorant about Cuba. Many latinos have spanish blood in them so thats part of their culture. And certainly in Cuba there are no indigenous blood as all were wiped out so they are mostly spanish and african descent.
