I smell a third season

I'll be the first to say that the season 2 finale was, in every sense of the word, perfect. Its also left so many possibilities for a third season. If Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton don't decide to do a third i'll be very suprised.

Certainly leaves things open for a third series ***SPOILERS AHEAD***

Maureen being in the bath tub of ice at the end with the chryogenic news on in the back ground gives the impression of David trying to bring his mother back to life. He's a bit "slow" to do it on his own, possibly getting help off Mr. Jelly or the owner of Hoity Toyties (who name escapes me for some reason)

I really hope so, this series was fantastic, they really built things up brilliantly, and what a great last episode. Fingers crossed the BBC let `em do a third series.

If you keep an open mind... you`ll discover dark secrets.

I'd hate to see the brilliant comic potential of David reviving his mom go to waste. They can do so many wicked things with that alone.

If info in this review is any indication, a third series isn't very likely

(Apparently its being rating poorly)

Edit: more on the ratings

The BBC isn't as ratings-hungry as other organisations, partly because they have a set budget which means they can take more risks.

Series 2 was absolutely fantastic, and the BBC knows how respectable Steve and Reece are so they may offer another series, it's more about whether Steve and Reece are willing to do it.

The BBC treated Psychoville like utter crap this time round and the ratings haven't been great (I really don't get it) so Steve and Reece may not want to do it even if they were given the chance.

No, the BBC is VERY ratings-hungry. Then cancelled Jennifer Saunders' shows for this reason alone, as well as a slew of others. However, BBC 2 is really held to high ratings. It's a smaller network, and you can get away with a lot more. The somewhat problem is budget. This series can't be cheap to produce. This series was a bust ratings.

I want a third and final series more than anyone but i honestly dont think this will happen at all!

I know that so many fans are screaming for a third series, but besides what the fans want, what do Shearsmith and Pemberton want?

That being said, they also killed off Joy, Lomax, Robert, Mrs. Sowerbutts and Tealeaf, so it would be difficult to continue on with that obstacle in the way, what with the two series having revolved around those characters.

Read the last post with the article; it's a shame about the viewership of the programme as it progressed.

Its a real shame as i seriously love Psychoville! The only reason im 99.9% certain series 3 wont happen is because i had a brief chat with Reece Shearsmith on twitter a while ago....

Me: Sorry to bug you but im just curious, has series 3 been commissioned??
Reece: Of course not!
Me: Sorry...i dont know how these things work
Reece: To be honest there just isnt any interest for it
Me: OMG im honestly so sad right now! Sorry to ask a dumb question but when you say theres no interest,do you mean from the beeb?
Reece: Yes
Me:Dammit! Its Red Dwarf all over again! Very funny, huge fanbase-simply cut ties and not recommissioned!

He later posted a message on twitter for all his followers to see that said something along the lines of: 'To all the people asking me about series 3,if it was a weather report the outlook would not be good!'.

So im guessing us hardcore psychoville fans have to be happy with what we have got!

How is the smell now?

Sorry but I think that the BBC were correct on both counts. The first series of Psychoville had mystery because we were working out the motivations of the characters. Series 2 was too much in love with the same characters that it didn't have the same freshness.

Because of the BBC's courageous move, we have experienced the intriguing Inside No. 9.

When Rob Grant decided not to co-write any more Red Dwarf after series 6, Doug Naylor wanted to either do something entirely different or do a Red Dwarf movie. However 'Grant Naylor Productions' were already contracted by the BBC to make at least 2 more series. If anything, some of the fans showed far earlier diminishing interest in the direction of the show than the BBC did. Kochanski was unfairly given some of the blame- she was great for 2 or 3 of her episodes in series 7 and then the scripts seem to run out of steam as if starting to morph in to the soap opera that it was in series 8 and (literally) in Back to Earth and, whilst series 10 has some good bantering, the BBC's money or technical expertise or simply expectations no longer appear to be so much on the screen. I sometimes feel like a lot of the budget was spent on Cat's outfits. There are no longer any interesting new villains, no interesting planets like Rimmerworld /Terraform, no moments of high camp such as Demons and Angels. It's too settled in its own early history which Doug Naylor seems to have erroneously decided was where all its heydays were.
