Another movie with fake reviews

Always be suspicious when reviewers give a low budget movie 9 or 10 stars.

At the time of my post, there are 6 reviews, three of which appear to be fake. You can click on reviewers names to look at their 'review history.' Two of them have not reviewed any other movie. One of them has reviewed two, this one and another by the same director, both glowing reviews.

It's cheap and dishonest for people involved in a movie to write insanely positive reviews to trick people into buying or renting a movie. One of the three real reviews criticizes the movie promotion for being dishonest. (Pointing out the the rapist killer couple is actually a homosexual couple.)

Note how most of the posts here are designed to pump up the movie and notify you as to when you can waste your money on it.

Shame on all of you for abusing imdb.com to use it as a dishonest way to promote this movie. It's a sorry trend in crappy movies that I hope IMDB will put a stop to.

I have nothing to do with the production of this film and I recently saw a screening in Los Angeles and loved it. This is the first time I’ve posted on a imdb message board, does that make me a fake?
May I direct your attention to the 32 external reviews that were written by proffessionals and are generally positive. How exactly were the filmmakers dishonest in promoting their film?
Your vitriol toward the film seems suspicious. If you hate the movie that’s one thing, but to make up garbage about fake reviews with no basis in fact makes you look pretty ignorant.

You joined IMDB just to write this reply? I checked your history and this is your only post! What a joke. I can see right through this.

You are obviously involved in the film directly, indirectly or you are two degrees of separation from someone promoting this film. It's HIGHLY suspicious that you joined this site just to defend this movie within 8 hours of me creating this thread.

You will have to do damage control some other way than to create new fake memberships to defend this garbage or call your friends and family to do the same.

You need to get over yourself. Your opinion is not the holy grail. Other people feel differently.

Agreed .... there as been a new type of "reviewer" pop up on IMDB in the last couple years, whose primary mission is to give "real" reviews, ratings, & comments .... while also warning all of the ignorant masses (the rest of us) that 95% of everyone ELSE'S reviews, ratings, & comments are fake.

I know it's very surprising to most of that group, but MOST of us are intelligent enough to figure out if & when ratings are being falsely manipulated, and are also well able to decide for ourselves exactly how much weight we need to apply to said ratings.

We really truly honestly don't need IMDB volunteer watchdogs to tell us what we already know. That type of input is as useless as the fake reviews & just as irritating.

There as been a new type of "reviewer" pop up on IMDB in the last couple years, whose primary mission is to whine and bitch about other people's posts and are dumb enough to claim their posts are more important than pointing out sleazy marketing tactics. My post is far much more useful than what you wrote. People have pointed out fake reviews with other movies which has helped me pass up garbage like this. Most people curious about this movie probably aren't smart enough to see through the fake reviews.

I don't know what your motive is. You admit the reviews are fake but don't want anyone pointing that out. Really weird.
Maybe I need to write a real review of this movie to counter the ones posted here. That outta' piss you off too since your priorities are so screwed up.

Quite obviously my post went completely over your head, since what you CLAIM that I meant, is actually about 180 degrees opposite of what I REALLY meant. But looking at your comment history, that you would be confused by my words won't be much of a surprise to anyone.

Next tme I comment, if you are on that same movie, I'll kindly dumb down & simplify any statement I make, just for you, using smaller words so to not get you all confused.

The film was garbage. The acting was pretty bad, but not horrible.
The direction and production were awful. You can't attribute all of it to low budget, that is no excuse to not hold a camera steady or at the right distance and angle. I have seen worse, but this is one of the very worst.

Yeah, saw this last night. Loved Unspeakable and was really excited about SKATD but it was just awful.
There was no story at all. Long, long scenes of dialogue that never pushed the film along.
Total waste, could've been amazing.

I wouldn't exactly give this movie a 9 or 10, but I did think it was a cut above most of the indie horror garbage that's being pushed out these days. It wasn't remarkable, but it was fairly entertaining, competently shot, and sometimes even kind of funny. I will say that the director's apparent obsession with male on male anal rape is a little disturbing, though I imagine for different reasons than they intended. Dude is suppressing some serious homosexual urges there..

As for fake reviews, I've come across a lot of suspicious reviews/threads on IMDB (a glowing review of crapfest "Laid to Rest" comes to mind). I want to just write them off as BS self-promotion, but some people really do have such poor taste that they could write 10/10 reviews about the most unspeakable trash. Either way, I'm guessing it's not an issue that anyone will ever address.

For now, at least, IMDB only tampers with our ratings, and not our reviews...

I have not watched the movie yet, but I do definitely see your point. However, there are those "casual" imdb enthusiasts who come onto the site to see a review of a movie that they would like to watch- or have already watched, and would like to see how others viewed it. Somehow, I'm a little intrigued in watching the movie itself, being a horror fan and all, but if this is truly the crap that the reviews say it is, then I guess its my loss. At the very least, I got to watch one of the director's movies.

I kinda dug it. It was no Deadgirl, but it tried to go for something. Yeah, it covered a lot of the same ground as Jacob's Ladder, but without so much artsy-fartsy nonsense and without leaving me feeling baffled and cheated at the end. Hell, the naked fat guy with the giant pud was worth the price of admission in my book.
