Mr. Greenway, thank you for a great effort and so well done. However, I think we would have benefitted from an expert in body language. The insistance that the hand gesture was a welcoming of the public was not what occurred to me. To welcome you would step back not forward, your hand, or better yet hands, would be palm out and to the side, and you might display a slight to pronounced bow and not such and stern facial expression. I feel the gesture is more of an offer to the public of the service of those in the militia. But, it's all subject to interpretation and how familiar one is with the history of the family, the Dutch, the times and so many customes and traditions of the day. What a great teaching aide to enlighten students as to what can be found when you study a painting, a novel, a poem or even music from the talented artists of the past.
