7.1 rating !! are you kidding me !. It deserve 4 !

I can't believe that the rating is 7 !!

Why ? what do you like about this movie ?!!

Bad acting, bad story. nothing good in this movie !

the best thing in the movie that it makes you feel sleepy !

very very bad !

reply

Great movie. Your post deserves a 4. Nothing good about it.

reply

Wouldn't "nothing good" warrant a 1 rather than a 4?

reply

i really dont know what kind of movies do you watch, but acting in this movie is nothing more than perfect, from every cast member.

reply

yeah an average of 7 from 11,000 people must be wrong compared to your one.

reply

And how much money did Meet The Spartans make? How many records has Nickelback sold? Yeah, the general public's opinion is definitely the most valid one.

reply

Spartan made a lot of money because people either came to laugh at it or are iditots but it still has a bad rating. A movie can make heaps of money but be bad as meet the spartans proved but the general public still gave it a very low rating which is what it deserved and this got a 7 which is what it deserves

Why fight a war, when we all die in the end?

reply

Ratings on IMDb are not "general public's opinion" since "general public" is a "general" bunch of brainwashed idiots, lured to theaters or DVD rentals by expensive commercials, sometimes more budgeted than some good movies. Also, those are the ones that judge the movie by the amount of money it earned in box offices.

Many (if not most) of the IMDb users, on the other hand, have their valid opinion and I tend to trust ratings here most of the time. I don't think 12000 users, who rated "Defendor", belong to the first group.

Obviously you are with the first, just like OP, but both with advanced skills to join forums and discuss, which is good (don't get me wrong).

reply

Meet the spartans made a heap of money, sure. Just like how you make more money mass producing TV-dinners rather than specializing in Beef Wellington.
However, the Beef Wellington will get better reviews, and in this case that analogy carries through as Meet the Spartans has a whooping 2.6 rating on IMDB.

I must say I was disappointed with it. It felt like they had a good idea but were unable to develop it properly so they stayed on the surface of things and filled the rest with redundant "action scenes" and a gooey ending.

I found the scenes with the shrink and his mother were touching but the rest of it was rather forgettable.

On the surface of things?
Ok, he had a mental disorder, nobody took what he said seriously (the hooker kinda did) and then he dies while getting some criminals into jail.
That's surely redundant.

Im posting in a rush because i gotta go, but i can discuss the movie more deeply later.

Because at least in prison and at least in death, you know, I wouldn't be in *beep* Bruges.

They were not trying to cash in on Batman Begins, but they were basically doing a real-life version of what Batman is.
He wasn't a billionaire, he just used what he had, and the action scenes weren't like Batman at all except for being dark, and if you didn't notice, night time is something that happens outside of a movie, although you clearly didn't.

What I don't get is how blank man (did the same idea before although without the protagonist having a mental handicap, though he did have a social one) has a 2 rating while this train wreck gets praised for it great acting, seriously did someone at red box swap out the dvd and replace it with some horrible other film Woody did in college?

reply

I agree with you.
The movie is ok still, but as you said it doesn't know where it wants to go exactly.
The movie "Super" with similar theme is much better IMHO.

lol a lot, bro. And the fact you can't even see it, most of all.

hey I get it. It's hard for people to watch movies with characters who are smarter than they are

Hmmm . . . seemed like great acting and a great story to me. Maybe we look for different things there or something?

Woody deserved a nomination and nothing less...

He delivered an extremely believable character. A lot of the "low lifes" in the film were highly relatable and believe it or not drug addicts oftentimes DO act the way they did in the movie.

I liked how there was no overacting and the movie kept itself very subtle. It ended perfect, too...for someone like that he was bound to get either shot or stabbed to death by someone who was either heartless or didn't understand that he was mentally ill.

This movie was far better than other retarded superhero schlock flicks out there where the hero is somehow dodging bullets or everything is made campy with a picture perfect ending. Like in the real world, there rarely are happy endings.
