Full Metal Alchemist?

This move seems like it borrows its initial premise from FMA (it's an anime, or menga? I never remember which - though it's probably both).

It sounds, from plot outlines, that this diverges once it gets to the results part of the script, but I wonder if there was any inspiration there.
