While i'm not opposed to them attempting adaptions, i have to be honest when i say i feel a lot of them miss the mark. As to me the major reason i still like the products to buy them and rewatch them is they work. And a lot of the charm is in what they were. While the live action films try to emulate them (this one admitably better than others, i don't find farting in Scooby Doo or Papa Smurf being drunk to even be funny in the first place) a lot of just feels to fall to the way side.
But if the films work and offer different interpretations, i don't think they do more harm then good. I didn't like Yo Yogi that much either, but i was never opposed to giving it a chance like i did this movie.
But i disagree on some of the earlier comments. Never been a fan of Toy Story, i was a kid in theaters for the first one and i saw a terribly lame movie then and still do. And their attempts to keep being touching as the series moved on just make it more embarrassing. Honestly i got more enjoyment out of the mistaken bought playset i got of it for one year at christmas then i ever did the films. I don't like over written attempts to make boring characters warm my heart being voiced by not-special celebrities taking roles away from more talented voice actors (thanks a lot for starting that sucky trend Pixar, if you all didn't market the hell outta "OMG Tom Hanks and Tim Allen voicing cartoon characters" maybe we wouldn't be in this mess)
Gamefaqs has a far worse population than IMDB
