In both films, the protagonist begins questioning his identity early on, wondering who he truly is. Both come to find out that the childhood origin they'd believed wasn't completely true, and that they'd been the target of a species-wide genocide at the hands of the movie's antagonist. Said antagonist did so due to a prophecy by a vague sooth-sayer, who they then keep around for reasons.
The main character ends up partially mixed up in the Villain's plot without actually trying to go after them, and go to a prison. After breaking out, a confrontation leaves them heavily wounded and unconscious. Upon awakening, they are forced to reconcile with their heritage and use their newfound strength to fight the villain once and for all.
