So, the panda can't beat the tiger one on one?

I'm just saying.

I think he can.

Whenever a fight's outcome was decisive for the story, it was the panda who made all the difference. both those 'skadoosh' moments.

If you would put their strength in perspective, i think tigress is by far the most talented kung fu fighter in the movie. But Po on its key moments would do things tigress is not capable of. its some sort of ying yang thing i guess.

If they were in a serious fight where tigress would want the panda gone, he would be able to stop her for sure.

So...he chickened out on purpose...cause she's a chick? I kid, i see your point. What did "skadoosh" mean? I'm not american, in case it's an american expression. By the way, this is an interesting thread: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1302011/board/thread/187021315

skadoosh is the same thing as kaboom.

indepth non-technical and subjective theory :P ;

kaboom is the sound of a heavy bom exploding ( where as shockwave is 'ka', and 'boom' is the bom itself ).

Skadoosh is imo more a subtle but deadly sound ( high-pitched smaller explosions, or a missile traveling and exploding (schhhh-kadoosh).

yeh some interesting topics :) lots of bull, but few cool ones

reply

I know 'kaboom'. I think everyone who grew up on cartoons and still watches them knows 'kaboom'. Nice technical explanation by the way. I'd just never heard 'skadoosh' before. Did you check the other thread out?

I'm american and I'd never heard "skadoosh". I think its just something jack black made up.

I think the tigress beat him because Po was distracted and his thoughts were on his childhood. He didnt had concentration, what this movie calls Inner Peace.

reply

Hmm, you know what? I think you're right! He definitely wasn't concentrating cause of thoughts of his childhood hence no inner peace. Spot on, and bravo.

Tigress is more diciplined and ethical than Po, so it makes sense that she floors him constantly while Po is unfocused.

The Po that has found inner peace though would defeat her.

"I think the tigress beat him because Po was distracted and his thoughts were on his childhood. He didnt had concentration, what this movie calls Inner Peace."

I think this pretty much nailed it. When Po was focused...and ESPECIALLY when he gained inner peace, he seemingly had no equal. Tigress was very skillful, but could defeat him when his thoughts wandered due to the traumatic events of his childhood. But as we also saw, even the furios five combined could not defeat Tai Lung..which Po was able to do single-handedly.

Obviously no.

I always thought that was a strange part of the movie. At least the ease with which she stopped him... considering he was supposed to be the "Dragon Warrior" and all that.

I understand the punching and Po's soft paw vs Tigress' iron one, but it seems Po should have been able to get past her when he wanted to.

Of course, I understand how Tigress would be the stronger and more skilled, in conventional terms, but Po has his "unconventional" ways of excelling, just like when he found inner peace.

I had to assume that Po failed to best Tigress because it was just skill vs skill, without digging in and using his unconventional innovations.

Entertainment and politics... I see Ellsworth Toohey is winning...

I think it was a device to show that he wasn't ready at that point, which considering he scuppered their plan for blowing up the factory only minutes later before nearly getting killed was probably a correct judgement on Trigress' part.

Sayonara, not to be confused with cyanide, which is, of course, goodbye in any language.

I think crane is the only one who is supposed to be able to neutralize her.

reply

he wasn't trying to beat her, just get past her. she's not the enemy so he didn't treat her like she was.

reply

The way I see it is Po is only good when he has a target in front of him.
Remember how he fell so badly in his first training in the first movie and yet in the kitchen he amazed the master...

He had no qualm with Tigress and didn't want to fight her, so it was only her skills vs his non-skills.

I think Po is more full of good intuitions/reflexes that skills per say, and in that case, he wasn't paying attention to his intuitions.

So it made a lot of sense to me that he "lost" to her in that scene.
In a life or death fight, she wouldn't last a few seconds though!

reply

The tigress is smarter, more experienced, and more skilled at fighting than the panda, yet he's the hero and she's one of the sidekicks. Don't make no sense.
