Works better if you pretend its part of a trilogy

On its own, its a bit of chore to sit thru and it has a lot of a "been there, done that" feel with seeing DeNiro and Pesci playing mafia guys yet again.

If you just PRETEND all the usual actors in this movie are playing the SAME characters in Goodfellas, Casino, and The Irishman (and all three films jump around in time and span like 60 years), it makes it super epic and HUGE in scope, like its the "Lord of the Rings" of organized crime films (yeah, I know you're going to say The Godfather trilogy is already that, but its from the POV of just one guy, and the third film in that trilogy sucked and ruined the characters so its not LOTR trilogy level in scope).

Gotta pretend they are Italian gangsters of Sicilian ancestry too... Robert De Niro being "the Irishman" title character was weird, and he still played it like the character was Italian anyway. Hell, his daughter in the movie and the rest of the family even LOOKED Italian. "Irish" my ass.

Binge watch it with Goodfellas and Casino for a 9 hour Mafia trilogy epic.
