Really a shame that

It didn’t win any Oscars because it was a Netflix movie. This was the highest rated movie by critics and was a masterpiece. Before awards season started it was heavy favorite to win Best Picture and Director, but the Academy’s hate for Netflix films continue. More and more top films will be Netflix movies so eventually they will have to give them their just due.

reply

I agree. There seems to be an unfavor hate. I mean especially for supporting to gang up with two stars and hit nothing. Wow!

reply

'sigh'! What can you do, ya know?

reply

Order a hit?

reply

It’s disgusting that it didn’t win any Oscars. Wasn’t “The Wolf of Wall Street” also shut out? I’m trying to remember. These films are brilliant, and it’s laughable that they get shut out at The Oscars.

The Oscars are going to look back on how wrong they were passing over so many of Scorsese’s films over the decades.

reply

He has 1 Oscar. He wasn’t even nominated for Taxi Driver, Silence, etc. He somehow didn’t win Best Director for Raging Bull or Goodfellas.

reply

Yep, many of Scorsese’s films will be remembered decades from now unlike many of the Oscar winning borefest movies that took the prize instead of him.

reply

They've won before.

reply

Best film of the year not Scorsese's best but a good old fashioned movie that deserved to win considering its rivals

reply

Of course it didn’t win, the cast is white and it’s far too busy being an excellent film to worry about stuffing the patronising woke agenda down the audience’s throat as Hollywood and especially the Oscars now require.

reply

I wish it got the recognition it deserved.

reply

Critics and audiences rated it highly. If the Oscars snubbed it then that says nothing about the film, and everything about the Oscars.

reply

Lol, this! 👍

reply

Netflix will have the last laugh.

reply

It was up against a better than usual set of nominees for the most part. I don’t think the Netflix thing had much to do with it ~ Roma did pretty well the previous year and was a much less Academy-friendly title. I think The Irishman could have done better had it been released in a weaker year.

I do wish Pesci had won for what I feel is his career-best performance, but double nominees in a category is always a disadvantage.

reply

Maybe it's not Netflix, maybe it's identities politics: Parasite is Korean movie and Roma it's about the Mexican community.

reply

Certainly more interesting than Parasite.
