Throwing in my two cents *spoilers*

*Sits in the dark by a bar*
Scorsese. He did it again. He made a great movie. I thought the hype surrounding this film would hurt my experience, but no... it was great. Let's go... let me get into what I loved about this movie.

Pro:
Acting- DeNiro is stellar in this, Pesci is amazing, Pacino gives one of his best performances, Keitel, Liotta, Romano... I heard a review that said this is "The Avengers" of gangster movies, and I highly agree with that statement. Everyone is a joy to watch, making you forget the runtime of this movie, committing to everything 100%, and making me happy that DeNiro won't just be known for getting his head blown off by Joaquin Phoenix this year.

VFX and practical effects- Of course Industrial Light & Magic did well! The deaging effect, at first threw me off, but one thing this movie did differently from other movies was realizing that face isn't enough. The actors all do movements they would have done when they were younger to add to the effect. It's not a bad job at all. Also the old man makeup they apply to people getting much older is brilliant as well, showing again mixing vfx and makeup is the right way to go.

Screenplay- Steve Zaillian's screenplay really comes to life in this movie. From dialogue that is quotable, to silent moments telling everything, this is a strong screenplay.

Direction- *claps* amazing work Scorsese! His direction is basically everything he's done while making it brand new all the same. From going back to 28 to 80, we get a story that's strong, courageous, and all around a massive joy to watch.

Cons:
None

A wonderful movie, with a stunning cast, a fascinating story, and excellent writing, theirs nothing that could compare to how good Scorsese did in this movie.

I just finished it, and I have to agree wholeheartedly with what you wrote.

The "de-aging" effects took a little while to get used to, but as the movie went along I got used to them. I also wish there was a little more for Keitel to do, but the fact he was in the film made it that much better.

I am most thankful to see Joe Pesci back on the screen, because he was amazing in this, as was pretty much everyone in this film. I loved the fact I got to see a great scene with Pacino and Pesci, and Pacino in a Scorsese film.

It was worth the wait. Great film from the master.

Totally agree. I LOVED seeing Joe Pesci again. When I saw him in the beginning, I was unnerved to see how much he had aged. He is 76 years old now, and hasn't really been in films for like 20 years. But when I saw the CGI de-aging process, I was blown away by how effective it was. Sure it is not perfect --- yet. But it is remarkable.

I thought the film was great. I watched in a theater and could have used an intermission, but it was amazing.

Agree on all accounts. But, you mention Liotta. Liotta was not in this film...
