Thought it was fantastic.

Black did a wonderful job.

I saw this tree. But it was a dragon. Then it was a tree again. It just lied to me.

Agreed it was a different and it took a bold step away from the generic comic book movie formula. It showed us how much of a hero our hero is without his costume.

reply

It was so different than most other comic book movies...and that difference made it all the better. All the complaints I read and heard before seeing it were completely over exaggerated...it all boiled down to nitpicking on extreme levels...its not a perfect film but it was a hell of a ride.

Loved seeing James Badge Dale... stoked that he had a big part.

The army of Ironmen was amazing.

Downey Jr.'s acting was great...the comedic elements were hilarious.

I saw this tree. But it was a dragon. Then it was a tree again. It just lied to me.

reply

Well the nitpicking consisted of various things. A lot of internet users do not know the true definition of "plot hole". When they see a film and didn't understand a scene they will immediately call it a plot hole or if something is left unexplained it is instantly a plot hole.

A lot of comic fans were upset with how the Mandarin was portrayed but a lot of others liked the new modern Mandarin. Many of us did not want the Asian Wizard from the comics.

Also a lot of the trolls took some negative user opinions and began to troll the board with hate threads.

reply

The phrase "Plot hole" is tossed around like a beach ball...there were some problems with the film but minor compared to the rest. Got a lot of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang vibes especially when Rhodey and Tony were commencing their attack in the third act...the gunplay was definitely Harry Lockhart-ish.

Also William Sadler was the president...awesome.

I saw this tree. But it was a dragon. Then it was a tree again. It just lied to me.

I really enjoy reading about people who enjoy things in this hate filled world.

So thanks :)

Shane Black staged the action scenes wonderfully, and i loved the tiny elements from other films like Lethal Weapon. The dialog between Tony and Rhodey was great.

And have to give Ben Kingsley credit for hes great performance(s).
Best Iron Man film.

Harry: Well yeah, there was like an 8% chance.
Perry: Eight? Who taught you math!

reply

Agreed.

Why in pluperfect hell would you pee on a corpse?

I saw this tree. But it was a dragon. Then it was a tree again. It just lied to me.

reply

I thought Tony was very Harry Lockhart while following Rhodey across the oil rig. Rhodey tells him (something like), "guard my 6, aim high, don't shoot me in the back," and Tony follows along repeating "six, high, back..." like he's trying to remember the instructions. This might only be from the B roll on Youtube - I haven't seen the movie enough times to remember exact things. That's why I need a Blu-Ray of it, ASAP!

reply

actually you are spot on.

This is also what I think...

What’s great about Iron Man 3 is that there’s no looking forward and certainly no feeling of a stumbling or searching plot. The writers on this film made just exactly the right size sandbox for the whole story. Everything seen on screen has some meaning now or at some point later in this story arc. There is no intention to pay anything off down the line in some other film. It’s a very well written movie where most everything speaks to an overall theme of some kind. There’s also some fine humor mixed in as everyone comes to expect in these Marvel films. It really is a masterfully crafted film. That’s why I’m so impressed with this movie. You know they could have phoned it in after Avengers. Just give Iron Man some Transformers level CGI action-fest and sit back and count the box office receipts. That really is the very last thing they did. Iron Man 3 is a remarkable movie on every level and would actually be a stand out film with none of that great action.

When you drop 1.2 billion on people, haters come from everywhere.

T why Marvel merchandise sells only behind the NFL every year.

reply

Definitely agree.

I think the fact that he managed to trick an entire audience into thinking the Mandarin was a real villain was impressive enough.

My favorite of the trilogy, I think.

reply

Agreed.

I saw this tree. But it was a dragon. Then it was a tree again. It just lied to me.

reply

No one could have said it better.

reply

Black was exactly the right director for this number three film. It delivered something very refreshing yet brought it all home nicely. It being different is why it's the best number three film in the comic book adaptation realm.

reply

I 100% concur.

I saw this tree. But it was a dragon. Then it was a tree again. It just lied to me.

reply

I know those grandiose statements anger some but the movie is so well done that why not use bold statements to describe what has to be considered the boldest superhero movie of all-time?

reply

Nicely worded...it's no masterpiece but it is one great ride.

I saw this tree. But it was a dragon. Then it was a tree again. It just lied to me.

reply

I love how they arranged to let Rhodes and Potts a chance to shine instead of focusing everything on Tony, yet everything is dealt out in good balance.

The only nitpick I have is that at certain times the iron man animation isnt that smooth. And the kid, he gets on my nerves a little. But otherwise I am very entertained by the film. This movie is definitely much better than the 2nd one.

...a little fantastic, and fleeting, and out of reach.

When you have a supporting cast that talented, why not use them? I'm so glad that they did.

reply

Now that is cute. Not only are you an immature child, but a homophobic one...nicely done.

Marvel's ten things not many people know. I knew most of them already.

reply

Chuck a fastball in high and tight and see if the trolls can take it.

reply

Most people think it's fantastic BECAUSE Black did a wonderful job. This isn't the chicken and the egg.

reply

Black had a good team and a great hand-off from Favereau. That was a big bonus.

reply

This was better than fantastic, it was high quality. Fantastic to me could mean visual only. This was a complete movie first, an action movie second. That's exactly what the franchise needed to close out a third film.

reply

I agree and add my thanks to Shane Black!

He gave us another slickly engineered action/adventure film right there with Lethal Weapon but with modern FX and super powered fun.

reply

It's good to know that a majority number loves this film.

reply

It would be very interesting to get exactr, non-tainted numbers on who truly enjoyed this film. The fake hate and fae users here are fun to mock but they do fracture the numbers.
