This is THE People's Choice As Favorite Movie!

Best movie AND best action movie of the year as voted by you! Well done to all those smart enough to vote IM3.

http://www.peopleschoice.com/pca/awards/nominees/

Robert Downey Jr is STILL awesome and the world STILL knows it. RDJ also won Best Actor.

I have to admit I voted RDJ best actor but voted Hugh Jackman as best action actor. So many split votes between Marvel fans when you throw Chris Hemsworth in to the mix. It's good to see general audiences decide it.

reply

Not quite. RDJ won Favorite Action Movie Star. Johnny Depp won Favorite Movie Actor (god knows why as I heard The Lone Ranger was pretty bad).

Iron Man 3 won Favorite Action Movie AND Favorite Movie.

Congrats to Iron Man 3 on joining the likes of Spider-Man, Apollo 13, The Silence of the Lambs, A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring! Smart voters!

reply

IM3 beats all those films save Silence of the Lambs.

reply

I'm seeing it again on Tuesday.

reply

If they would vote again this movie would still win best picture 2013. Hands down.

Yup. I had fun voting for the Peoples' Choice Awards. That is all.

I take it your favorite movie didn't win?

reply

His favorite movie wasn't even nominated. That's why he feels compelled by forces he cannot control to come to the Iron Man 3 board and call people names - wah.

reply

Capitalism rules for the People in this case. Power to the people means it across the board. We voted IM3 the best on many fronts.

I accept your surrender.

reply

We've done the retard cycle ad nauseum. Where have you been? Call names when you can't deny that you are the minority in your opinion of this movie. Move on.

The People's Choice is starting to become more meaningful and certainly more entertaining than the Oscars themselves.

Just the dresses that Heidi Klum and Malin Akerman wore as they presented made the night. WOW.

reply

I'm going for the sweep here, on replies to this post. The Academy Awards (I keep this spiel in a word document for easy access) have degenerated into a political popularity contest. They have nothing to do with the Best of anything. If the Academy voters want to reward someone for their political views (Sean Penn), they hand them an Academy Award. If someone has said or done the wrong thing (Russell Crowe), the Snub is in full effect.

The Peoples' Choice Awards at least ask people what they liked, not who they want to reward for political opinions or activities. I think awards like the Peoples' Choice Awards are the thing of the future. The only people interested in the Dinosaur Awards are the dinosaur academy.

I think there's a place for both kinds of awards. Some pretty awful movies can be momentarily popular (think Transformers or Twilight), while movies with genuinely good acting and production values (12 Years a Slave, Lincoln) will never be on anyone's favorite list.

An award from insiders who recognize the talent that went into a film will always be more prestigious than how many teens you get to vote for your movie. Films like Return of the King are happy exceptions, being both popular and good.

reply

There's a place for both. No matter how much I disapprove of the Academy's voting record, the people in the business are going to feel honored "just to be nominated" and elated to win one. I believe that since some actor named Marlon Brando introduced politics into the show (and I am old enough to remember that) it has gone all downhill from there. I'm glad the Golden Globes exist, the various guild awards exist, the Peoples' Choice, the Scream Awards, even the Spirit Awards. I HOPE politics won't overrun all of them.

There is no question about that but that downhill ride has certainly come at a ratings cost. Most people simply don't want Hollywood preaching their warped views.

Agenda politics may overrun most of them and that's why the People's Choice means so much.

reply

That's why the Oscar TV ratings will match bowling on ESPN.

reply

Oh, I don't know. They got 40 million viewers last time. No TV show can match that, and certainly not bowling!

reply

I wish I were an Oscar Mayer Weiner
That is what I truly wish to be
cause if i were a Oscar mayer weiner
everyone would be in love
oh everyone would be in love
everyone would be in love with me

I accept your surrender.

reply

Well did you see the nominations? People didn't really have a choice, and if Trekkies didn't hate STID like they do, they would have voted for it and not the alternative, which was Iron Man 3.

Fast 6 doesn't have a fanbase like Marvel does and no one would vote for MU and DM2 for favorite movie. The nominations were horrible.

If you don't like Man of Steel, then you can giiiit out.

reply

Uh... there really wasn't that many good movies last year. IM3 was just a big blockbuster like Transformers but nothing amazing. I'd say Thor2 or even Star trek 2 was superior in every respect.

reply

Man, IM3 is so much better than all the Transformers movies put together.

reply

Agreed.

reply

A rousing comic book adventure, this was surprise fun. The character may not have been as well-known as the men of Super, Spider and Bat, but he certainly is now!

reply

I'm so glad I voted! This award does indeed mean more than the Oscars.

reply

To me, Peoples' Choice is a better measure of a movie's popularity than the Oscars. I'm glad I voted and to my delight, the people and movies and songs I voted for are the ones that won. I must like the same movies and songs that most people liked.

A film can be both popular AND high quality.

Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.

reply

Marvel was bought for FOUR billion dollars because that is true.

I'm people and it was my choice!
