Hmmm...'tremendous characters, impressive visuals, outstanding story'

Looking over and looking back at the comments made about Iron Man 2 this comment makes you think about the trilogy in general ... "tremendous characters, impressive visuals, outstanding story NUFF SAID!"

That was said about Iron Man 2. So, can the same be said about Iron Man 3?

Let's see...

Tremendous characters? Yes, IM3 certainly has the same leads with a better supporting cast. IM3 has the far better villain.

Impressive visuals? Yes, just as good but better because it wasn't all armor action. Yes, the armor were "drones better" as Ivan would say but Tony's Iron Legion beats the hell out of the Hammeroids.

Outstanding story? Yes, I found the story in IM3 to be more thrilling and more cinematic. Tony and Pepper felt like they were in real danger this time around. IM2, not so much.

So, IM2 was good but IM3 is much better.

As has been mentioned, there is nothing wrong with Iron Man 2. A lot of people call that film better than TDK and it's considered the weakest of the three Iron Man films. I know that reality hurts some people but it's just food for thought.

This is the year’s best movie so far. As a viewer, you are constantly vacillating between intense sequences and fun moments. The special effects are superb and dare I say flawless. IM3 puts the spectacle in spectacular. There’s nothing to dislike about this movie unless you went in not wanting to like it. In every respect, it’s a better film than the first two and that’s really saying something.

Iron Man 2 was basically a comic book crossover film. It prepared us for 'The Avengers' and it also helped develop Tony into a more well thought out person. He was preparing for any situation he could think of. The Avengers showed us he went up again in terms of advancing his tech and in Iron Man 3 it showed us that Tony was mentally unhinged and prepared for any situation possible.

I feel like every film in the MCU is a set of comics. It plays better that way which is great.

Exactly. Take out SHIELD and replace them with the FBI and it works just as well.

It seems that everyone agrees. I don't even need to point out that Iron Man 3 finishes what is now considered the best trilogy in movie character history. It really is the new king. (The LOTR trilogy stands apart because it was really just one long tale broken in to three parts) Iron Man 3 earns the crown for the entire trilogy by delivering the best third film by quite a vast margin. Such a great story with amazing action and cool, complex characters and plot turns. Iron Man now outclasses ALL other comic-based movie franchises in every way. That’s not a knock on other quality franchise but it shows how high they set the bar with this film. Nuff Said!

Who didn't like this movie?

MY GOD.. Irom Man the best character trilogy and only better than LOTR because LOTR is one story broken up into three parts?

You are the most retarded person ive ever met in my entire life and your opinions are of a person who has his head planted so far up his ass he can see his farts before he smells them...

Jesus Christ some of you Fanboys needs to be slapped upside your monkey heads for some of this inane over opinoated nonsense you spew.. Iron Man 3 SUCKED get over it for Christ's sake... and NO i didnt go into it expecting it to suck.. i was hyped for it only to be dissapointed because it was a *beep* movie PERIOD. And Yes MOS was WAY WAY better than IM 3. so call me a DC fanboy or whatever you want but frankly i dont care what franchise your a part of, a *beep* movie is a *beep* movie...

reply

That's so true. Not many can argue against those three things. Even the haters have to admit this movie delivered tremendous characters, impressive visuals, and an outstanding story even if that story strayed from the books.

reply

Does any of that come up on the commentary on the DVD?

reply

Too bad RDJ isn't on the commentary. If I remember right, he did one for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with Black.

reply

One question: Is this the best genre sequel of all-time? Not just “number 3” but any sequel? Everything about this movie is phenomenal. Iron Man 3 is easily the strongest superhero entry for a third film but is it better then all those great second films as well? I honestly can't answer that right now but it's right there with X2 and SM2.

reply

It's definitely arguable. I would argue AGAINST it being much better than X2 or SM2. It's a solid sequel with fun action and a hilarious twist, but BEST?

I do think TDK did it better overall. Better villain, better pacing, better storyline. Didn't like TDKR though.

reply

Not many liked TDKR.

Anyway, then make the argument. Why was X2 better than IM3?

reply

'tremendous characters, impressive visuals, outstanding story'

Aren't they saying that about all Marvel films since Iron Man in 2008?

reply

X2 seems dated now for some reason. I wish Singer would give up those black leather X-Men jammies.

Can anyone top or refute this? It's as right as Ronald Reagan.

reply

''Outstanding story? Yes, I found the story in IM3 to be more thrilling and more cinematic.'' - that one really made me laugh... Outstanding story? Story about how Ben Kingsley walks out of the bathroom while monologuing about smell of his scats? You mean, story which was copied and pasted from The Incredibles? Iron Fail 3 is a cinematic manual for mentally defective. It's a schlock. Watch Spider-Man 2 if you want to see a good superhero movie that respects its source material and audience.

IM2 was smart but the tension was not there. Here, there were thrills right through the film.

reply

Bring on Age of Ultron because I can’t get enough of RDJr as Tony Stark.

reply

No one used any of those words when describing the last two WB/DC comic book messes.
