SPARK

Just curious. The greenhouse scene in the "making of the movie" section of the special features on the DVD includes something interesting.

One filming crew member is shown holding what looks like a small hand-held directional microphone with a very short boom pointed at the action. The crew member is wearing fancy earphones and is imaged from his rear. As the recorded scene ends, he lowers the mic and the word "SPARK" appears hand-written on masking tape on the rear of the mic.

I assume that is the name of the sound recorder. But, it does not appear in IMDb's listing of Sound Department crew. Or, is it a technical term for the directional mic? Any ideas?
