They shot the cannon way too high...

I liked this movie for the most part. It was a good and sobering reminder. But did they really have to jump off the bridge of absurdity by saying "In 50 years, climate change will kill everybody but one guy who still watches Youtube"? Dont get me wrong, we are going to be in pretty bad shape by 2055, but the idea that humanity is basically extinct is a huge stretch. I could easily believe a death toll of 3 billion+, but not everybody.

What we are facing is going to be nothing less than terrible, but, barring an Anoxic Ocean event, climate change is not going to wipe out all life on Earth. We may well see nuclear wars and civilizational collapse due to it, but not extinction. It is, after all, absurdly easy to kill a lot of humans, and absurdly hard to kill us all. I really wish they didnt play the absolute Zero-sum game with this.

Show the world as a barbaric, refugee ridden, starving, storm ravaged place with constant war and famine, not as an empty place with one seemingly well fed white guy who still can watch video's at leisure.

I believe he was the last human and was going off to die. He wasn't watching YouTube, he was creating the last video ever and transmitting it into space.
