Don't Know If anyone Realized This *Spoiler of 1st movie*

But wasnt the first family that lived in the house before Oriental? I own the first Messengers dvd and Love it but at the beginning of that one their was an oriental family and it turned out that they were the ones haunting the house, but when I was watching the trailer for the 2nd movie the family is caucasian! Does anyone understand what I mean?

I just thought it was weird how they changed the family that originally lived in the house.

I'm under the impression that this is more of a remake true to the original script before it was altered during the filming of the first movie. The original film was called Scarecrow for some time prior to release?

Could be wrong though! :)

reply

Could be, but you aren't. This is supposed to be closer to the writer's original vision.

reply

So I wonder if the scene from the first one that was cut/ altered of Kirsten Stewart in the basement (seen in the webisodes included with the DVD very briefly) will be back as intended?

I think i'll look at this when it comes out, on the cheap so to speak :)

reply

After seeing both of them I see why it got changed. Either the writer should not be allowed to write again or he should sue whoever trashed whatever he intended this movie to be.

reply

"Oriental?" Really?

reply

yeah

Oriental is a rug, not a nationality. The poster was attempting to point out your blatant ignorance.

Chase: Wow. Yeah, I get it. House is adorable. I just want to hold him and never let go.

reply

Funny thing about ignorance. Those who don't know they are ignorant are usually the most. Oriental can and is used to describe people from the Orient or Eastern Asia and those descended from them. With that being the case, they were Oriental. Yeah, the style of rug originates from the same place albeit most are made in South America now.

reply

Sure, I'm sure everyone in my Asian studies program would agree. It's offensive, period.

Chase: Wow. Yeah, I get it. House is adorable. I just want to hold him and never let go.

reply

Offensive, maybe but is that what they are called traditionally? Yes. I personally do not call them oriental but rather Asian because of the consideration that they may not be from the Orient at all. Now, if they are from there...what's the problem?

I just asked my Chinese-American girlfriend and she laughed and said she's never been remotely offended by the term oriental. She said it's usually uptight PC white people who are offended by these things.

Dont be ridiculous..You have been watching too many japanese horror films and getting all mixed up.. In the first Messengers movie you could see the family was caucasian with a little white boy hiding under the kitchen sink with his tractor and the white mother being dragged along the floor.. AND in the end you see that the farm helper who came to help them was CAUCASIAN and was the killer of his family.. Where on earth did you come up with Oriental living in that farm?? You couldnt possibly have watched the same film as everyone else.. John Corbett a white actor played the father living in that house.. Cant you even type in The Messengers into Imdb and see for yourself ? As for this film it was okay but in no way would i say it was even remotely connected to the original film.. It would of been a lot better if they would of left out all the stupid cliche parts .. Felt like i was watching a mixture of films all piled into one to take up time and to TRY to make a horror film but it failed .. Could of been so much better because the scarecrow was really freaky .. I think there was too much argueing and bad acting coming from the bratty kids who kept walking past their father as they went places to have fun and when his witch of a wife said "All you care about is your corn and not your family" as she was cutting her fresh ripe tomato i thought GEEZUS woman.. I dont see you helping with the crow problem or making any money and all you do is nag him to death or talk behind his back with that another man ( and she had the nerve to accuse him of cheating? hahahah ) .. I was hoping the Scarecrow got her and the guy lived on the farm with a family who actually cared about all the pressure and hard work he did ALONE.. Ungreatful bunch of losers if you ask me.. Anyhow to answer the question.. NO IT WAS NOT ASIANS LIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF A FARM IN THE STICKS OF USA.. hehe

clearly you be trollin. i'm ashamed that so many people bit the bait on this one.

for the record, it's asian's, not orientals. using oriental as a race description is paramount to using "colored's" for black people. there is no such place as "the orient". that's a term used by old standard traders. "asian" people are called asian, because they're from a continent known as ASIA. just like how when people ask your heritage you go "hurr durr i'm an amurikan" since you're from "america" even though technically it's the united states, and america is not only one but two continents! meaning canadians, mexicans, brazillians, ect are all in fact american! omg! it's amazing to not be an idiot! herp a derp.

also not all white people are of Caucasian decent. so i kinda take offense to all the racial description in this topic. you're all retards.

You are wrong on most accounts. I highly suggest you go get bent and aquire a valid education before trying to correct someone. By the way, the word is tantamount. Paramount means to have ultimate authority or influence. Geez, you nut bags are so easy!

Furthermore, the Orient is descriptive of a location. Primarily Eastern Asia.As far as "Asians" being from Asia, I guess we should break down and refer to Native Americans as Asians as well since they are technically from Asia originally. All of these racial and locational titles are pointless and meander to the "victim" sect of society. I'm happy just being considered part of the human race. Next time I'll bring a little cheese to go with your whine!

reply

No, it is a white family in the beginning of The Messengers. I didn't even realize that the little "boy" hiding under the sink was really the actress who played Bree in Eclipse.

Rose: Can I ask a dumb question?
Dorothy: Better than anyone I know.
