Almost a waste of some talent

After just watching this film... I have to add my 'review'

The story starts off quite sluggish, and moves along sluggish -at best- through the first 20min. or so. The dialogue is iffy and slow-paced, as is some of the action. A common horror fan would hit the 'Stop' button and send it back if not for the popularity of (Norm) Reedus as Lead (who does NOT disappoint)

The dialogue/reactions get weak in some areas, until after the 2nd part of the film when the scarecrow pulls some power. Then the movie truly picks up and gives us the suspense we deserve. Blood/guts/horror...not so much, depending upon one's degree or deliverance.

REEDUS: He does not disappoint, in spite the mediocre script and dragged action in some of the scenes. In fact, his talent was almost wasted in this film sequel. He keeps his character moving all way through, however.

The rest of the cast did okay in their performances. However, Stephens (Mary) was barely believable at times, as was Belcher (Michael).

I just watched it the other day. It wasn't great but it wasn't the worst. I think that they should've spent more time on the family than on the creepy neighbors. I felt that the family relationship was just tacked on to create drama but you only see John with his kids two or three times.

The wife annoyed me, she was all on John's case about his obsession with the crops - which was pretty much his job. Why couldn't she go out and get a job to help suppliment the income? I mean she wanted to make french bread and pot roast (which they can barely afford to make for themselves) for the bank guy's family. If you're in dire straights and they're threatening to shut off your power and/or foreclose on your house a phone call to the deceased's family and a supportive presence would be more than enough.

The whole problem with drinking beer made no sense - if they had stated that it was a religious think or if they said that John was a recovering alcoholic I could get behind it but it just made the wife look crazy.

They should've just kept the neighbors as creepy almost stepford type people that encouraged John down a dark path... the crazy wife drugging and assaulting John didn't really add to the story in my opinion.

Finally how are they going to explain the dead cop in their barn and the two other deaths associated with the farm? They can't just walk back to the house hand in hand like nothing's wrong. They needed a little more resolution.

NR pretty much can do no wrong; but the wife(Mary) was damned annoying til the last maybe 10 mins; at least she was somewhat useful and gave a flat performance.

The wife annoyed me, she was part of the reason they were having money problems. For one thing, I don't think she had a job and for another she wanted to make a big pot-roast dinner for the family of her friend. If you're strapped for cash there are other ways to express your condolences.
